Please note the dates for the bestowal of the empowerments. If it is not possible for you to come on the days the empowerments will be given but you have received these empowerments previously that is fine. On October 15th and December 19th we will meet in the front courtyard of Ka Nying Shedrup Ling monastery in Boudha at 9:00am. You must come on time. From there we will go as a group to a different part of the monastery and receive the respective empowerments. Please

2 dress appropriately for this occasion and also bring the necessary offerings to the vajra master to be offered at the conclusion of the empowerments. The empowerments are only for course participants, please do not bring others along. When the empowerments are concluded everyone should go have lunch and retrieve your bags from your guesthouse and meet back at the monastery at 1:30pm. At 2pm we will as a group take a chartered bus, approximately one hours drive up to Asura cave retreat center in Pharping where the course will be held. If you have not prepaid we will be collecting payment for the course during the orientation in the evening at Asura Cave. Please bring the exact amount in either U.S. dollars or Nepali Rupees. 1 course 2 courses 13,000npr/$125.00usd 26,000 npr/$250.00usd Note: $125.00usd = 13,000npr as the fixed rate. For Monastic Sangha members, the amount is $95.00usd/9,700npr for each course. Once we have reached Asura cave in Pharping we will settle in to our rooms. In the evening we will have an orientation together. During that time you will also receive the texts needed for the course. After dinner we will begin the teachings with the Lama. The course s schedule is quite full as to get the most out of the short amount of time. note: Please note all texts will come with tibetan, english and transliteration in the Lhasey Lotsawa Translations and Publications pecha format. 3 12 lunch 2 4 group q&a/ discussion/ torma 6 7 private practice/group practice (alternates days) 7 dinner 8:30 study/practice Remember to bring a sleeping bag warm clothing (socks, hat, sweater, jacket, scarf, long underwear,etc.) a cushion for sitting on vajra, bell and damaru(hand drum) pencil, paper, tablet, etc. for taking notes. Accomodation As mentioned on the website the accommodation will be shared. Living structures in Nepal are not built with indoor heating or insulation so during winter months it is often equally cold inside as outside. The weather generally will not go below the upper 40 s fahrenheit. Please bring warm clothes for both daytime as well as for sleeping in. Drinking Water Generally the water in Nepal is not clean enough to drink and will cause mild dysentery which could lead to infection if not dealt with properly. Water should be thoroughly boiled before drinking or drinking water should be from bottled water. Both of these options will be available where we will be staying. Bottled water can be individually purchased 15 minutes walk from the course location. Clean drinking water will be provided during the course to all course participants. Water Availability

4 There is a water shortage in Kathmandu and certain areas are more affected. The course will take place in an area with less water. This means we will need to use the water sparingly. There may or may not be hot water available for showers on a regular basis, this is common all over Nepal and depends on the location. Our course will be taking place in an area of very typical basic living conditions for Nepal, though it is considered one of the most holy places on earth connected to Guru Rinpoche. Attending The Teachings We are currently developing online options for those who meet certain criteria to be able to further learn and study the Vajrayana Path. As of right now the only way of receiving these teachings is in person at the Sadhana Ritual Courses. Even if you already have the empowerments and are practicing these practices, we will not be be releasing the audio and video recordings of these teachings at this time. Upholding the integrity of the person to person and visual lineage is of utmost importance. Therefore we are closely working under Phakchok Rinpoche s guidance to develop ways to broaden the scope of how these teachings can be learned online while at the same time maintaining the integrity of the lineage traditions. Offerings At the conclusion of each course it is customary as a gesture of gratitude to make an offering to both the lama who gave the teachings, as well as to the translator who made the teachings available in one s own language. There will be a chartered bus taking everyone back to Boudha on October 28 and January 2nd. If you need to go back any other time taxi s are readily available from morning to evening. The average price is about 1,500npr one way from Pharping to Boudha and takes approximately one hour. Looking forward to seeing everyone. 5 The courses will be taking place in the uppermost cluster of buildings which are surrounding the Asura Cave where Guru Rinpoche overcame obstacles through the practice of Vajrakilaya before going to Tibet and establishing the vajrayana teachings upon the invitation of King Trisong Deutsen.
