2 Overview An important part of your employment experience at Tulane is the total rewards program provided by the University in exchange for your support of our mission. The key benefits provided by Tulane are that we enable you to: Protect Health & Income Maintain & Build Financial Security Promote Fitness & Well-Being Enrich Self and Spirit 2

3 Protecting Health & Income Medical Insurance: Three options that provide a wide variety of coverage, including hospital, surgical, physician, and prescription drugs. Dental Insurance: Maintaining oral hygiene is an important part of maintaining your overall health. Dental coverage provides for routine care, basic and major services and orthodontia for children. Vision Insurance: Available for individuals that need eyesight correction, vision insurance typically covers 100 percent of charges for an annual eye exam and the cost of eyeglasses or contact lenses with low copayments. Long-Term Disability Coverage: Protecting your income is equally as important as protecting your health. Long-Term Disability insurance provides a replacement income of 66 2/3% of base salary in the event of an illness or injury. 3

7 Protecting Health & Income Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance Highlights 100% employee paid and you are automatically enrolled 90 day benefit waiting period Coverage is 66 2/3% of monthly salary to maximum monthly benefit of $8,000 A retirement contribution equal to 8% of your monthly salary is made while receiving benefits Disability determination based on your occupation for the first two years of disability benefits, any occupation thereafter LTD income received is not taxable 7

8 Maintaining and Building Financial Security Life Insurance: The University pays for coverage in the amount of 1.5 times annual salary in basic term life insurance for you and basic dependent life insurance in the amount of $2,000 for your spouse and each dependent child. You may also purchase Supplemental Life and AD&D insurance. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Setting aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses (Healthcare FSA), and for dependent day care expenses (Dependent Care FSA), is an efficient way to save money on taxes. Retirement Plans: Planning and saving for your retirement is the most important thing you can do to ensure future financial security. 8

10 Maintaining and Building Financial Security Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Benefit Concepts Healthcare FSA Dependent Care FSA Extension of when claims can be incurred for Healthcare FSA : March 15 of following year (April 1 to file) Benny Card, reduces need to mail in paper claims (Healthcare FSA only) $4,800 maximum for Healthcare FSA $5,000 for Dependent Care FSA All money not used will be forfeited 10

11 Maintaining and Building Financial Security Retirement Plans Retirement Plan: University Paid Eligible to participate after 2 years of service Re-hired employees are eligible immediately if they worked at the University for 2 years Employer contributions are an amount equal to 8% of salary Vesting: Immediate Fidelity and TIAA-CREF investment options Tax Deferral Plan (403(b): Your Contributions Eligible to participate upon hire No employee contribution required Contribution limit for 2010 is $16,500, plus $5,500 catch-up if over age 50 Fidelity and TIAA-CREF investment options 11

Employee Assistance Plan Available to assist you and your household members with mental health, financial to assist you when you are dealing with personal problems that affect their relationships at home and at work. 12

14 Promoting Fitness & Well-Being: Health Screenings Many serious health conditions develop over time, but they can be delayed or prevented if you know your risks and make healthy changes. Understand your health risks by having a Health Screening. Screenings usually include: Blood pressure Glucose Cholesterol Body Mass Index (BMI) The Tulane medical plans include one preventive exam per year. Visit your Physician to get your screening. 14

19 Enriching Self and Spirit Tuition Waiver: The Tuition Waiver Program entitles you and/or your dependents to attend the University and receive exemption from payment of tuition for credit courses. Time off at Tulane: Tulane wants to afford you the time off to rest and re-charge. Good to be TU : You and your family are invited to be a part of Tulane by offering many University-related discounts and events. 19

20 Enriching Self and Spirit: Tuition Waiver Employee Waiver: Full-time staff are eligible Waiver is applied to the greater of two classes or six hours per semester Graduate waivers that exceed $5,250 are taxable Employees with at least 25 years of service at Tulane (under the Extended Tuition Waiver program) Waiver applies to tuition and not University fee Must be employed six months before you are eligible Dependent Waiver: After three years, dependents (which include the Spouse, registered Same-sex domestic partner and children) are eligible to take classes at Tulane (Personnel Handbook) Must submit most recent copy of Federal Income Tax Return to prove dependency Waiver applies to tuition and not University fees Must be employed three years before you are eligible 20
