1 Glossary of Terminology and Abbreviations AA: Associate of Arts ASE: Adult Secondary Education AAT: Associate of Arts in Teaching ABE: Adult Basic Education Accountability Program Review Report: (formerly PQP) submitted in a five-year rotation to ICCB for all instructional programs and to the College for all non-instructional programs Actions/Tasks: The specific steps to be taken to achieve a strategic objective. AGS: Associate of General Studies AIR: Association for Institutional Research AQIP: Academic Quality Improvement Program AS: Associate of Science ASE: Applied Associate of Science BAS: Datatel s Business Advisory Services division CCSSE: Community College Survey of Student Engagement College Council: Committee membership consists of faculty, department chairs, program coordinators, staff, directors, and all upper administration, center of decision-making model for communication at KC. Commitment: A general statement arising from the vision statement that identifies where the College intends to reposition itself in order to deal effectively with current and future trends and forces. COMPASS: Computer-based test used by KC for placement in English and math classes Core Values: Honesty, respect, fairness, compassion, and responsibility CurricUNET: A nationwide course and curriculum management database which incorporates course and program creation electronically with a database history of the current and past programs and courses Dual Credit: High school student earning college credit and high school credit simultaneously for the same course, typically taught at the high school by an approved high school instructor Environmental Scanning: The surveying, collecting, and analyzing of external trends, forces and perceptions (economic, social, political, educational, technological) and internal trends, forces and perceptions that directly relate to the College s future. ESL / LEP: English as a Second Language / Limited English Proficiency FERPA: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Fifteen-Year Strategic Plan: An outline of key planning assumptions incorporated into viable Commitments and Strategic Objectives for the years 2006 through FTE: Full-Time Equivalent; annual FTE is total credit hours divided by 30 FY: Fiscal Year (July 1 to June 30) General Education Objectives: The twelve objectives in six categories (critical thinking, cultural understanding, computational skills, communication, collaboration, research skills) adopted for all KC students. See 1C of Overview for detailed list.) 2 Institutional Plan: A five-year planning document that includes the elements of the Fifteen-Year Strategic Plan (commitments and objectives) as well as strategies for implementation of the Strategic Plan. IPEDS: Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System ITV: Televised classrooms for distance learning KC: Kaskaskia College KC@Work: Program offering KC courses on location to business & industry Key Performance Indicators: Measures or metrics used to define and evaluate how successful an institution is in terms of making progress towards its organizational goals or commitments. Key Planning Assumptions: A list of claims about current and projected trends and forces that will have an impact on the College s future direction. KICK: Kids in College at Kaskaskia; summer educational programming for students pre-kindergarten through eighth grade MAPP: Measure of Academic Proficiency & Progress Mission Statement: A declaration of what the College sees as its purpose and function while providing strategic vision and direction for what the College envisions achieving. Kaskaskia College s mission statement is, Kaskaskia College is committed to life-long student learning and to providing quality comprehensive education. NACEP: National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (dual credit accreditation process) NATEF: National Automotive Technician Education Foundation NCCBP: National Community College Benchmarking Project Non-traditional student: any student under the age of 17 and over 24 years of age that is enrolled at KC. Ex.: students in dual credit, continuing & community education, workforce or corporate training. Objective: Goal for student learning Off-Campus Offerings: Instructional services delivered at sites other than the Kaskaskia College main campus through traditional classroom methods or through technology-driven delivery systems such as distance learning. Operational Planning: The effort to collect, sort, evaluate, and budget for action proposals that would most effectively implement goals and strategies that arise from the Strategic Plan. Outcome: Results of student learning Performance Indicators: Quantifiable measurements that reflect the critical success factors of an objective. PCCS: Partnerships for College & Career Success (formerly TechPrep) PQP: Accountability/ Program Review (formerly Priorities, Quality, & Productivity) submitted to ICCB READI: Readiness for Education at a Distance Indicator, an online product that helps students determine their preparedness for online coursework SBDC: Small Business Development Center SCIGA: South Central Illinois Growth Alliance SCT: South Central Transit bus service, owners of the training facility leased by the College for truck driver training and other classroom space SICCM: Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market SOE: Supervised Occupational Experiences Special Populations: Students in career and technical fields who qualify for financial assistance based on one of six criteria: a documented disability, economically disadvantage 106 Glossary

3 (qualifying for a Pell grant), gender-based non-traditional students, single parents or pregnant single women, displaced homemakers, or ESL/ LEP populations. SSI: Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory Strategic Objectives: More specific statements of the most important steps to take for accomplishing a particular strategic goal or commitment. Strategic Planning: The effort to identify the most important trends and forces that will have the greatest impact on the College over the course of the next fifteen years; to analyze and interpret this information in order to identify key planning assumptions; to use these key planning assumptions to identify and develop consensus for a Strategic Plan for the College. Success Center: offers the following services: multidisciplinary tutoring, textbook loan, peer mentoring, learning communities, study groups, career decision assessments, résumé writing assistance, job postings, career fair, job placement, cooperative learning, internships and workshops. Support Services: All functions outside direct instructional programs, including but not limited to: academic support (tutoring), library services, administrative services, student services and the bookstore. Systems Portfolio: A resource developed as part of the AQIP process; serves as an always up-to-date account of the College s key systems and processes; a credible accountability report for all constituencies interested in institutional performance. TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language Traditional student: any student between the ages of 17 and 24 years of age who is entering college within a year of completion of a high school diploma or high school equivalency exam. University Alliance: Bachelor s and master s degree completion offerings with participating universities Workplace Ethics Program: This program s goal is to ensure that graduates from all educational programs at KC possess understanding, full knowledge, and commitment to the behavioral expectation of employers. It is designed to prepare students for successful employment and effective careers. 107 Glossary

The organization operates with integrity to ensure the fulfillment of its mission through structures and processes that involve the board, administration, faculty, staff, and students. Core Component 1a. The organization s mission documents are clear and articulate publicly the organization s commitments. A. KC s mission, vision, and values are aligned with the College s strategic and institutional plans and based on the College s ten commitments. (6C) B. KC s mission, vision, commitment to diversity and strategic planning commitments, core values and philosophy are listed prominently in the Kaskaskia College Catalog pages 3 & 4. C. KC s mission is linked to the college s five core values: honesty, responsibility, fairness, compassion, and respect. (IC, 5C) D. Annually, the local newspaper publishes the mission, philosophy and goals of KC; and College news is published regularly. (2P3) E. KC s mission is clearly articulated to new employees during new employee orientation; every employee receives a copy of the institutional plan. (4P4) F. The mission statement and core values are posted in every Kaskaskia College office, classroom, and meeting space. Additionally these are printed on many KC materials (e.g., employee business cards, KC catalog, student handbook and strategic and institutional plans). (5P8) Core Component 1b. In its mission documents, the organization recognizes the diversity of its learners, other constituencies, and the greater society it serves. A. KC s definition of one of its core values is: Respect having a genuine regard for others and showing consideration for the diversity of others to foster an environment of teamwork and excellence. KC Commitment IV states that KC is committed to increasing the number and diversity of students completing training and education programs, and KC maintains an official policy stating its Commitment to Diversity. KC provides training for new employees on identifying and addressing different learning styles. (1P9) F. KC provides services for many student subgroups: students with disabilities, international students, student athletes, senior citizens, KICK students, adult education students, dislocated workers, dual credit students and special populations. The organization s governance and administrative structures promote effective leadership and support collaborative process that enable the organization to fulfill its mission. A. KC is fortunate to have an active Board of Trustees that anticipates future needs and adapts quickly to trends to lead the College in a proactive approach to sustain its unprecedented growth and continue to expand curricula to meet the needs of Community College District 501. Commitment X: Kaskaskia College is committed to providing an environment based on process leadership, participatory and consensus decision making, and shared governance where faculty and staff are involved in the planning and policy formulation of the College and the development of actions and tasks in the institutional plan updates each year. Direction is guided primarily by the Vision 2020 planning document and institutional plan; together these plans and KC s Decision Making Model guide KC s decision-making process to ensure alignment with the College s mission, vision, values, and commitment to high performance. (5P2) D. Based on the results from the Baldrige Express survey, the college ranks as mature in the following areas. Organizational governance: review and achieve management accountability, protect stakeholder interests, and improve leader effectiveness. (5R2) E. One of KC s five Core Values: Honesty being truthful and demonstrating integrity above reproach, and maintaining open, honest, clear, and effective internal and external communications. (IO page 1) B. KC s core values and workplace ethics for AAS degree seeking students are incorporated across the curriculum for students at KC. (1C) C. Effective teaching is defined and documented in the faculty union contract. (1P11) D. The five core values and ethical decision making model is introduced to all new employees at new employee orientation and are held to held to high standard for ethical practices, and when standards are not met the situation is promptly addressed. (4P7) E. All job descriptions include adherence to and promotion of the College core values of compassion, honesty, fairness, respect, and responsibility that are detailed in the institutional overview. The College has also instituted several annual award programs, along with an ongoing Make a Difference Award program to recognize individuals for their work or for their behavior or values. (4P7)

6 Criterion Two Preparing for the Future. The organization s allocation of resources and its processes for evaluation and planning demonstrate its capacity to fulfill the mission, improve the quality of its education, and respond to future challenges and opportunities. Core Component 2a. The organization realistically prepares for a future shaped by multiple societal and economic trends. A. KC is fortunate to have an active Board of Trustees that anticipates future needs and adapts quickly to variable trends to lead the College in a proactive approach to sustain its unprecedented growth and continue to expand curricula to meet the needs of the College district. KC utilizes partnerships with fifteen colleges and universities and SICCM to assist district residents by providing them opportunities for education within the district at a cost savings to the resident. (1C, 9C) C. KC offers a wide variety of course delivery options in order to balance both student and KC needs. (1P12) D. Other results for administrative and institutional support processes include a wide range of measures and metrics used to produce internal reports to track trends and make informed decisions; the institutional effectiveness office creates and maintains a variety of reports to provide information on enrollment trends, faculty and staff, course and curriculum offerings and changes, unit cost and more. (6R1, 7P2) E. With the availability of KC s Fact Book and many other resources on the institutional effectiveness website, faculty, staff and administrators have accurate, consistent data to provide a uniform system for tracking and reporting trends and making decisions that will increase effectiveness. (7R1) F. Societal and economic trends are considered when KC develops collaborative relationships with educational institutions and organizations. ( 9P1) Core Component 2b. The organization s resource base supports its educational programs and its plans for maintaining and strengthening their quality in the future. A. Because of the College s enrollment growth over the last seven years, the institution is receiving an increased proportion of state aid, resulting in financial stability. (IO page 3) B. Closely aligned with the College s mission, vision, and values, as well as with the Illinois Commitment document, Kaskaskia College s strategic planning and budgeting process encompasses both the Fifteen-Year Strategic Plan and the Five-Year Institutional Plan, based upon the ten core commitments which cover all areas both in and out of traditional academics and drive all new initiatives and budget planning at the College. (6C) C. KC Commitments VII and VIII (linked to strategic plan, attached to actions and financial resources) commits to providing programs and services that are accessible at times and places convenient to the learners and that are comprehensive, flexible, and responsive to KC s constituents. Planning teams identifying initiatives, objectives and actions to fulfill the ten commitments also connect them to the mission statement; and budget requests are linked to the ten commitments as well; college fiscal administrators use the institutional planning and budgeting processes to gather information on faculty and staff needs and facilitate prioritization of new initiatives and implementation of new or expanded programs or services within fiscal parameters. A minimum of three budget and planning meetings are held between November and February, and commitment teams make necessary revisions to the Institutional Plan as needed, and establish priorities in accordance with the ten published commitments. The organization s ongoing evaluation and assessment processes provide reliable evidence of institutional effectiveness that clearly informs strategies for continuous improvements. A. Kaskaskia College s Commitment V states that KC will hold students to high expectations for student learning provide continuous quality improvement of academic programs through assessment of student learning, support services, and administration functions. (6C). B. Faculty are responsible for defining learning objectives whenever a new course or program is proposed, and these learning objectives are evaluated by the curriculum council, who determines which courses and programs to submit to ICCB for review and acceptance. (1P2) C. Faculty, program coordinators, and department chairs are responsible for collecting and reporting assessment results to their deans and to the assessment coordinator and for using the results to make changes to improve programs and courses. (1P18,1R1, 1I2,8R5) D. KC uses multiple methods to assess the quality, need, and effectiveness of programs. (1P13, 1R2-1R5, 2P4, 7P1, 7P2, 7P4, 8P2) E. Data are analyzed through assessments using comparisons against other community colleges, Kansas Study, comparisons with ICCB peer group institutions, and customized peer groups through the IPEDS. KC currently has two AQIP action projects regarding student learning, Improve and Expand Online Learning and the General Education Core Assessment that provides evaluation and data to work towards continuous improvement. (1P12, 1P13, 1R2, 1I1) Core Component 2d. All levels of planning align with the organization s mission, thereby enhancing its capacity to fulfill that mission. A. Closely aligned with the College s mission, vision, and values, as well as with the Illinois Commitment document, together with KC s Decision Making Model, Kaskaskia College s strategic planning and budgeting process encompasses both the Fifteen-Year Strategic Plan and the Five-Year Institutional Plan, based upon ten core commitments. When funding is requested for a line item in a departmental budget or for the College budget, it is linked to an objective or commitment. (6C, 5P2, 8P3) B. Many professional development activities are aligned with organizational plans through Commitment X. (4P8) C. During HR annual evaluation process, goals and objectives in alignment with the institutional plan are set for the upcoming year. (4P10) D. Kaskaskia College has multiple instruments and methods for ensuring department and unit analysis of data and information aligns with the goal and commitments in the strategic plan. (7P6) E. Based on the results from the Baldrige Express survey, the college ranks as mature in the following area: Action plan development and deployment: aligning work, tracking progress, and making changes to action plans quickly. (8R2) F. KC has made AQIP and the ongoing action projects key components of the institutional planning process, including documenting detailed results from the action projects and developing new action projects that are aligned with the College s priorities. (8I1) Criterion Three Student Learning and Effective Teaching. The organization provides evidence of student learning and teaching effectiveness that demonstrates it is fulfilling its educational mission. Core Component 3a. The organization s goals for student learning objectives are clearly stated for each educational program and make effective assessment possible. A. KC has clearly defined general education objectives for all students and student learning objectives for both transfer programs and career and technical programs that are aligned with objectives outlined by each program s accrediting and licensure agencies, thus ensuring that student learning is relevant and appropriately focused. 8 B. Specific program objectives are clearly stated for nursing, career and technical programs, and transfer arts and sciences programs. (1P2) C. Learning objectives in each course build toward program objectives, so successful completion of coursework verifies learning expectations. (1P17) D. The assessment process begins at both the course and the program level with learning objectives for students. (1P18) E. NCCBP, MAPP, and NRS (Adult Education) provide effective assessment and benchmarking data for developmental programs in math, writing, and reading (1R1, 1R2, 1R3 ) F. In addition to the AQIP action projects, KC works to ensure mastery of course content via course learning objectives and course level assessment. (1I2) Core Component 3b. The organization values and supports effective teaching. A. Kaskaskia College s Commitments II states: KC will partner with P-20 educational institutions to enhance teaching and learning. (6C) B. Effective teaching and learning expectations are defined in the faculty union contract, as well as in the master course syllabi, and resources for developing these skills in faculty are provided in the professional development section of the College library. (1P11) C. Professional growth and development opportunities are available outside the staff and faculty professional development days for faculty teaching either online, hybrid or web-enhanced classes through the distance education office. (1P11, 4P8) D. KC provides horizontal movement opportunities for faculty members that enroll or pursue additional education to improve teaching. (4P9) E. The ten commitments detail areas in which KC focuses resources and planning to address effective teaching and learning throughout the district. (8P6) F. Grant funds encourage faculty and staff to pursue innovative teaching and learning strategies and opportunities outside the realm of their standard responsibilities. (8P8) Core Component 3c. (IO page 2) B. KC provides learning environments that offer a variety of instructional methods and the most up to date technology. (1C) C. KC provides an effective learning environment that is available, accessible, accountable, and affordable to the community it serves. (3C) D. The Enhancing and Improving Online Learning project allows the AQIP team time, resources, and authority to make improvements within the online environment to ensure that students are provided what they need to learn successfully. (1I2) E. An environment of open communication is important to keep programs and the organization on the cutting edge of education. (5P3) F. Student, administrative, and instructional services at KC provide the needed support and environment essential for a Learning College. (5P4) Core Component 3d. The organization s learning resources support student learning and effective teaching. A. One of KC s purpose statements is: Provide student development and support services to assist students to achieve their academic, career and personal goals. (IO page 2) B. The KC Library provides access to resources and services supporting the educational goals of students, faculty, and district residents. (1C) C. Developmental classes in math, reading, and English are offered for student that need assistance in those areas prior to enrolling in credit classes, and an honors program is offered for high academic performing students.. (1C)

9 D. KC provides a Success Center for students struggling academically and has an early alert process to help flag these students for help. (1P8) E. The assessment coordinator provides faculty with resources in the form of an assessment library and a quarterly assessment newsletter, as well as workshop presentations at staff and faculty professional development days based on weaknesses observed in faculty assessment reports. (1P18) F. Because of the academic support services provided, KC athletes have been successful academically; four of KC s athletic teams (volleyball, women s golf, baseball, and softball) have been awarded the Academic All-American Team based on their academic performance and combined GPA s. (1R5) Criterion Four: Acquisition, Discovery, and Application of Knowledge, The organization promotes a life of learning for its faculty, administration, staff, and students by fostering and supporting inquiry, creativity, practice, and social responsibility in ways consistent with its mission. Core Component 4a. The organization demonstrates through the actions of its board, administration, students, faculty and staff, that it values a life of learning. A. Kaskaskia College s mission is a commitment to life-long student learning and to providing quality comprehensive education. (IO page 1) B. Students and stakeholders at Kaskaskia College have several short- and long-term requirements and expectations of the College. The main requirement all groups have is that KC provide learning opportunities that enrich their lives. (3C) C. Professional growth and development training is aligned with short-and long-term organizational plans through Commitment X. (4P8) D. Both faculty and staff are given financial incentives for enrolling in additional education and training opportunities. (4P9) E. Kaskaskia College s other distinctive objectives provide skills to the local workforce and regional businesses and provide continuous affordable access to lifelong learning. (2R2, 9R2) F. Kaskaskia College s new Lifelong Learning Center houses the Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery, which is free and open to the public, displaying art from throughout the region and providing educational opportunities for the faculty. (2I1) Core Component 4b. The organization demonstrates that acquisition of a breadth of knowledge and skills and the exercise of intellectual inquiry are integral to its educational programs. A. Kaskaskia College s Workplace Ethics Program is designed to prepare KC students for successful employment and effective careers. (1C) C. The general education learning objectives, originally developed in during campus-wide workshops, were recently revised by the members of the AQIP General Education Core Assessment action team to better address the education requirements and expectations of all KC students. (1P1) D. The infrastructure of the General Education Core Assessment project empowers the team to identify areas in need of improvement, to make policy recommendations to ensure progress in this area, and to design faculty professional development based on findings. (1I2) E. Professional growth and development training is aligned with both short-and long-term organizational plans through Commitment X of the institutional plan, and both faculty and staff are given financial incentives for enrolling in additional education and training opportunities. 10 Core Component 4c. The organization assesses the usefulness of its curricula to students who will live and work in a global, diverse, and technological society. A. Kaskaskia College s vision includes being a premier Learning College, a world-class institution of higher education with a national reputation of high quality and excellence with state-of-the-art technology while being student-centered, learning-oriented, innovative, and supporting globalization and internationalization of curricula. One of KC s five core values addresses the issue of diversity: Respect having a genuine regard for others and showing consideration for the diversity of others to foster an environment of teamwork and excellence. (IO page 2) C. In addition to the mission, vision, and core values, KC includes as its core purposes and a commitment to diversity. (IO page 2) D. Career and technical programs maintain advisory groups that include professionals in the field and local employers another other members; these groups are an important avenue of communication between KC and the population it serves. (5C, 9R2) E. Commitment IV in KC s strategic and institutional plans establishes a commitment to increasing the number and diversity of students completing training and education programs. (6C) F. The Board of Trustees has issued bonds over the past five years for upgrading and acquiring the latest in technology. Additionally, the Board has expanded the operations budget for technology and instituted a Technology Fee for assisting with funding new and emerging technologies. (1I1) Core Component 4d. The organization provides support to ensure that faculty, students, and staff acquire, discover, and apply knowledge responsibly. A. Faculty and staff have many resources available to them in the professional development section of the College library. (1P9) B. Full-time and adjunct faculty are provided opportunities within the academic school year to take advantage of professional growth and development sessions on campus during faculty and staff professional development days. This development opportunity includes training in assessment, technology and pedagogy. (1I2) C. Commitment X of KC s strategic and institutional plans states: The College will teach and prepare those within the organization with an understanding and appreciation of the consensus-based leadership philosophy through the KC Leadership Institute and professional development opportunities. Professional development training for faculty and staff strengthens instructional and non-instructional programs because it is designed by those who benefit from it; the professional growth and development committee is made up of faculty, staff, and administrators from throughout the College. The success of the Leadership Institute is an example of a college-wide leadership development initiative that has been supported with full enrollments over the last six years. The Fifteen-Year Strategic Plan is based on the Illinois Commitment, the College mission, vision, core values, purposes and feedback from the Vision 2020 initiative and other on-going community engagement activities which provided a clear path for KC. (7P1, 8R1) D. KC provides opportunities for increased collaboration within the education center communities by inviting anyone interested to participate in annual open forums with the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. (9P5) E. KC s collaborative relationships with SCIGA, KC Business and Industry, ISBDC, dual credit high schools, and career and technical advisory groups help KC analyze the needs of these constituencies to better serve these groups. (9R1) F. Dual credit at KC that is offered through a collaborative relationship with 17 district high schools is an example of an external collaborative relationship that continues to grow and is making great strides in quality improvement; the dual credit advisory committee and annual meetings with dual credit high school instructors and KC college faculty provide opportunities to collect feedback and to plan accordingly for quality changes in programs. (9R1) Core Component 5b. The organization has the capacity and the commitment to engage with its identified constituencies and communities. A. The more KC develops its partnerships and collaborative efforts with the communities within the district, the stronger the bonds become with the College s external constituents and stakeholders. (2R3) B. Experience has proven that when the public is fully engaged in the planning process, creative ideas emerge, volunteerism increases, and community constituents are extremely supportive of a college s initiatives. (8C) C. KC s commitments I and II outline the directive to support regional economic development and partnering with P-20 educational institutions. (9P1, 9P2) D. Commitment I directs KC to support increasing the number of training opportunity offered through KC Business and Industry, works to ensure the availability of an educated, skilled workforce in the district, and actively seek grants for assisting with funding business and industry initiatives. (9P1) E. Commitment II includes providing students the programs and courses that will effectively transfer to four-year institutions, continuing to offer programs up to an associate degree and seeking to expand upper division and graduate program educational opportunities by creating university alliances. (9P2) F. Commitment II includes creating, prioritizing and the continuation of building a stronger relationship with district high schools that offer dual credit. (9P2)

Commitment II of KC s strategic and institutional plans states: Kaskaskia College is committed to providing programs and services that are comprehensive, flexible, and responsive to businesses, individuals, and various organizations. (6C) B. KC s Institutional Plan is discussed at advisory committee meetings, at business meetings, at economic development meetings which include government officials and local business people, and at district secondary school superintendent meetings. (2P3) C. An example of how the planning process has helped to improve performance is that KC s constituents in Greenville and Salem expressed a strong desire for a permanent facility to allow for future growth. After reviewing enrollment trends, two facilities were purchased in these communities and have been remodeled into modern higher education facilities with high-tech equipment to better serve students at these off-campus sites. (2I2) D. KC builds relationships with the educational institutions that depend on a supply of KC students to their institutions; and Kaskaskia College participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows transfer of completed Illinois general education transfer core curriculum between participating institutions. (9P2) E. KC creates and builds relationships with employers to support the needs of district businesses and to ensure well-trained employees (9P2) F. The University Alliance partnerships in place with fifteen other educational institutions helps KC build relationships with four year educational institutions. (9P2) Core Component 5d. Internal and external constituencies value the services the organization provides. A. Community telephone survey results confirm that area residents are satisfied with the role Kaskaskia plays in the communities it serves. Respondents believe that KC plays an important role in their communities, especially regarding the workforce and local economy; most area residents find Kaskaskia College to be affordable and that residents find taxes paid to support the College to be a good value. (3R4) B. Experience has proven that when the public is fully engaged in the planning process, creative ideas emerge, volunteerism increases, and community constituents are extremely supportive of a college s initiatives. (8C) C. KC creates and builds relationships with employers to support the needs of the businesses and to ensure well-trained employees in the workforce. (9P2) D. The ISBDC at Kaskaskia College continues to see increased demand for services. Existing business owners, entrepreneurs, displaced workers, and underemployed people contact the ISBDC for assistance in starting small businesses; and ISBDC works closely with SCIGA to make contacts with those that might benefit from the ISBDC services. (9R2) E. KC s business and industry division has experienced success and growth over the past few years with increased efforts on training needs analysis. ( 9R2) F. The most significant improvements made in the area of building collaborative relationships are in business and industry, dual credit collaborations, university alliance relationships, and education center community development. The overall growth in the business and industry programming detailed earlier in 9R2 documents how vital the role KC plays to businesses in the KC district. (9I1)
