LA MONTAGNA DEI POLPETTINI After The Giggler Treatment, i Polpettini! From one of the most important writer, TV producer and entertainer in Italy s broadcasting networks. March 2014 Pages: 208 In June 1962 a little boy who has just finished his fourth year of primary school finds himself spending a week with his grandmother Carlotta in the small hamlet of Seggiano, in the province of Grosseto. Although these are years of fervent cultural unrest and of the rapid growth of post-war Italy, time appears to have come to a halt in this Tuscan village, where everything carries on with the usual peace and quiet. The young protagonist is all but bored, thanks to the many stories told by the villagers and by the sheer entertainment of the first sketch comedy television shows, but most of all thanks to a little mouse called Ughetto degli Ugurgeri, who takes him on nightly journeys to the Fairies' House and the Devils' Crossing... «It is set in the 60 s. An intelligent and curious child describes the world the way he sees it, with rough- edged affections and the looming media tsunami as in a fairy tale: pure nostalgia!» Walter Siti «A luxuriant jungle of cultural citations, above all an unconditional act of love, for the lore of long gone television (and advertising) now lost to the passing of time». Il Manifesto MARCO GIUSTI Marco Giusti was born in Grosseto in He produced popular television programmes such as Blob (created with Enrico Ghezzi), Carosello, Soirée and Stracult. In 1996 he curated an exhibition on Carosello at the Triennale di Milano. A film scholar, he edited an important dictionary of Italian films as well as several exhibitions on Italian cinema. He is the author of some interesting biographies and a series of essays on the history of Carosello. He has written for newspapers such as L'Espresso and il Manifesto for many years.

SUPER MAGICO GIONZ The new novel by the 2013 Andersen Prize winner. On the day Mr Gionz steps out of the television, Gianni isn't quite sure how to deal with him. A few days pass however, and the two become inseparable friends. Eventually Mr Gionz transports Gianni into his world, where just for a few hours he will become a superhero. April 2014 Pages: 96 A child dealing with adult problems, an unlikely superhero and a kleptomaniac aunt... Caught between school, the supermarket and two homes, will Gianni manage to attain a normal life? The comedic force and the sheer quality of writing of an acclaimed author who has sold copies. «Quarzo is at his best in the rarefied narration and in the wonder of his 'rounded stories,' as he calls them». Donatella Ziliotto «The beauty of Guido Quarzo's writing is capable of sliding seamlessly from History to just 'story,' where the reader is carried as if through the character's dreams». Il Sole 24 ore «One of the greatest names in Italian narrative». Anselmo Roveda, Andersen GUIDO QUARZO Guido Quarzo was born in Turin, where he currently lives and works. He has a degree in Pedagogy and has been working for many years as a primary school teacher and educator. He has been publishing novels, short stories and poetry for children since In 1995 he was awarded with Premio Andersen, and in 1996 he won the Prize Cento, which confirmed Quarzo as one of the most talented and influential Italian authors writing today. Among his novels L'ultimo lupo mannaro in città, Clara va al mare, Il libraio sotterraneo, Il bambino che guarda l'isola and La meravigliosa macchina di Pietro Corvo, all published by. In 2013 he won the Andersen Prize.

LA DOPPIA VITA DEL SIGNOR ROSENBERG Fabrizio Silei never ceases to surprise us. A great historical novel with dickensian echoes for a young audience. March 2014 Pages: 176 Mr Rosenberg descends from a lineage of businessmen and is the owner of a large chain of emporiums in late 1920s America. He has two great passions: money and playing chess over the phone. The poor and the working class are not allowed to enter his emporiums; these are places where members of the bourgeoisie must feel a part of a happy America, free of imperfections. A few months prior to the crisis of 1929, a young girl accused of theft is brought into his office. The girl, whose beautiful face is however marked by a cleft lip, challenges him to a game of chess and wins. It is thanks to her that Rosenberg comes into contact with the most destitute stratum of society. This experience will forever change his life, allowing him to redeem himself and become a better person. «A refined and enthralling novel. A story which entwines the rhythms of a fairy tale with the reality of the history of the 1900 s. Angels, demons and the folly of a world based on profit at any cost. Once again Silei is confirmed as a great author. A knowledgeable and poetic vision from someone who knows that the best way to understand today is to look back on yesterday». Walter Fochesato FABRIZIO SILEI Fabrizio Silei. His first novel Alice e i Nibelunghi was acclaimed by critics and readers alike. In 2008 Silei was the only Italian author to make it to the final selection for the Unicef Award for human and children's rights literature. In 2012 he won the Andersen Award for the best book for 9-12 year old readers. Alice e i Nibelunghi, Bernardo e l'angelo nero, Un pitone nel pallone and Se il diavolo porta il cappello are also published by.

NON-FICTION A SCUOLA CON SUN TZU Based on the principles of The art of War by Sun Tzu, this book shows you how school can do a lot for you, as long as you go about it in the right frame of mind. Life is a war. School is even more so.the enemy may have many faces: boring subjects, illegible books, incompetent teachers, difficult classmates, or even our own weaknesses. Learn to fight them all to achieve the greatest victory: promotion and the realization that you have learned something. March 2014 Pages: 144 I m a fourth-year student. To get this far has cost me a lot I ve argued, cried, had sleepless nights. In the end I lost all interest in studying. Then, by chance, I read the Art of War by Sun Tzu, which opened up a new world for me. Let s be frank: school is like a territory to be conquered, or a series of fortresses to be captured. You can fall in love with one subject, hate another, make friends with the janitor,be one tea- cher s pet and the enemy of another. But there is only one stark reality: you have to survive. Either you win, or the school does. ANONIMO DEL QUARTO ANNO If you want to win, I ll teach you how. If you want the school to win, don t read this book.

NON-FICTION MOZART ERA UN FIGO, BACH ANCORA DI PIÙ Classical music is far «cooler» (and makes you «cooler») than pop music: it makes films absorbing and commercials memorable; it has a calming effect on the mind and on babies in the womb; it is packed full with rhythm, harmony, genius and insanity. February 2014 Pages: 224 The so-called «classical» musicians are far from boring. Rather, they are fascinating personalities who deserve to be known. Who was Mozart? Who was Bach? How did they manage to compose their unforgettable melodies? Their music used to excite millions of people and it still does so today. Packed with anecdotes and stories from the lives of great musicians, the book also touches upon what music is and how it works and offers suggestions on what to listen to begin a journey of discovery in the magical realm of the art of sounds. «An opportunity to rediscover classical music, accessible to all». Il Venerdi di Repubblica MATTEO RAMPIN and LEONORA ARMELLINI Matteo Rampin, psychiatrist and psychotherapist has over twenty books to his credit, all published in Italy and abroad. Leonora Armellini was born in Padua (Italy) in She got her degree from the college of music, getting a summa cum laude, at the age of 12. She is unanimously recognised as the best emerging talent in Italian classical music.

HOPE L'ULTIMO SEGRETO DEL FUOCO In a timeless world, a young, great heroine has the power of the most intense light: Fire, the divine gift men have forgotten. A journey of self-discovery. A great adventure in the name of true friendship. October 2013 Pages: 536 Hope is thirteen years old, she has green eyes and red hair. She doesn't know who her parents are, she has forgotten her own past and she has no idea how she arrived in Kaerlud after the Dark Wars destroyed the world. She may seem like an ordinary orphan, but she's is not: Hope has the incredible power to create Fire simply by opening her hands. Considered a witch and rejected by everyone, Hope finds out that the Gods have a devastating plan in mind: they want to regain control of the Earth and to exterminate the descendants of Prometheus. The Immortals are ready to use any means necessary, including the most terrible ones, and to unleash monsters and other diabolic creatures to achieve their goals. In an epic journey through labyrinths and lost underwater cities, Hope will have to face up to her destiny as the Chosen One and will have to give the wise Guardians of Time and the valiant warriors of Nazar a reason to fight. «Fantasy and myth sit well together. This book demonstrates that». Rolling Stone CAILÍN ÓG Cailín Óg is an Irish writer who was born in Dublin in Her true identity remains a secret.

LE GIACCHE DEGLI ALLENATORI All football lovers, old and new, will recognise themselves in this book; an irresistible adventure that deals with the most important values in life: selflessness, courage and loyalty. And a lot of irony. September 2013 Pages: 112 Edo is ten years old and loves football above all else. One day, he comes across a building under construction. Here he finds a great number of objects from the past, particularly some old jackets. Edo puts a jacket on and, as if by magic, he finds himself in the 1970s at La Pinetina sport centre, while Inter player are training. Edo will live a unique experience that will allow him to get to know the great champions of the time: Altobelli, Beccalossi and Eugenio Bersellini, nicknamed the Iron Sergeant. «This book helps us understand what the real dream of a child is». For them, football is a beautiful fairy tale without end». Eugenio Bersellini GABRIELLA GREISON Gabriella Greison was born in Milan in the mid-1970s. 10 ULISSE IL MARE COLOR DEL VINO An immortal myth told to children with a modern twist. This is Odysseus' story: the greatest, the smartest, the most human of all heroes of antiquity. Homer's character is presented here with all his weaknesses and intuitions, and the narrative style is so crisp and informal that even the laziest readers will fall in love with it. May 2013 Pages: 160 «Readers will not be able to put this book down easily, because each of its scenes corresponds to some truth that is already inside us, that we knew already and that will lead us, each and every time, to identify ourselves with the most human and ordinary of all heroes: Odysseus». Giovanni Nucci GIOVANNI NUCCI Giovanni Nucci (Rome, 1969) has been editor for children's literature, adult fiction and non-fiction for Mondadori, Edizioni e/o, Laterza and Adelphi.

GOD BREAKER Between American Gods and Hunger Games, action and myth invade the bookstores. June 2013 Pages: 320 A fast-paced and heart-pounding narrative set in a realistic, urban universe. A rich, often humorous story, packed with unexpected turns of events. Gods are still alive. The gods we know about from ancient myths and the many others we know nothing about are still walking the streets of London, Milan and Amsterdam. They are just like us, but they have the power to destroy the laws of reality and to change the destiny of the world. Edwin is a demigod, the son of a god and a mortal woman. His father abandoned him shortly after his birth, and for this reason Edwin had to watch helplessly as his mother was killed, and was himself horribly tortured and tormented by a monster. He swore revenge. He spent his whole life getting ready for it. He now wants to find his father and destroy him at all costs. Nothing can stop him though, not even knowing that to win the final battle he may lose his soul. LUCA TARENZI Luca Tarenzi (born 1976) has a degree in History of Religions. April 2013 Pages: 64 Talal is a Palestinian boy and a friend of Aidha, a zebra in the zoo beyond the Wall. Due to the constant bombings, the zoo has been reduced to mere ruins. When the zoo is bombed once again, Aidha is killed. Trying to spare Talal the pain, the zoo keeper ``disguises'' a donkey as a zebra. Of course Talal quickly realises the truth, and leaves the zoo feeling betrayed and broken-hearted. The old zoo keeper would like to talk to Talal, but he is nowhere to be found. The news spreads all over the country and several journalists arrive. The zoo keeper can now publicly say he is sorry and in an interview he asks Talal to forgive him.
