It is essential that you print and read the information below in its entirety, as there are several steps required of you before you may register for classes. 2 Steps To Complete Prior to Registration (please complete in order listed) 1. Get a USF Photo ID Card All new USF students are required to obtain a USF Photo ID before completing any orientation or registering for classes. You will need $10.00 in cash or check, a photo ID, and your USF ID number. You can purchase the card on the main campus in the Phyllis P. Marshall Center, Room 1505; Hours: Monday Thursday: 9:00am -6:00pm and Friday: 9:00am-5:00pm. For more information; call You must have this card before completing the online orientation. NOTE: If you are a distance learning student, you will still need the USFCard to access USF's Portal and Blackboard classes. You can also use your USFCard to check out materials from the USF Library, gain entry to USF athletic events, and gain student discounts to movie theaters and restaurants. Use our convenient online form to apply for your card now! 2. Complete Mandatory College of Nursing Online Orientation and Quiz The College of Nursing requires new students complete a mandatory online orientation and quiz before registering for classes. Through this orientation, you will become acquainted with the college, receive important program information, and more. The online orientation will be available for all students beginning on June 5, 2012 at the following web address: Please be aware that your student registration will be held until you complete the online orientation and receive 100% on the quiz at the end. Once you have completed the Online Orientation, it is STRONGLY recommended that you complete a tutorial on Blackboard, the interactive software platform - where classes are held. Blackboard tutorials can be found at: Complete HIPAA Certification RN-BS students must complete the HIPAA certification before classes begin August 27, Please follow the directions below. Directions: Go to Click on the Login to USF Heals button using your HSCNET/USF HEALTH ID. Log in using your HSCNET/USF HEALTH ID and password. Select CON from the drop down menu (Select a Health entity) and Student RN-BS For HIPAA, select the Privacy and Security button and begin your on-line training. You must complete the five modules: i. Computer & Information Security ii. HIPAA Compliance iii. Privacy Overview iv. Privacy in Patient Care v. Privacy in Research
3 After you have completed HIPAA training, be sure to print a copy of your certificate of completion for your own records. We do not require a copy at the College of Nursing. If you need help at any time, please contact USF HEALTH IT at NOTE: To access the training modules, you will need the Authoware Webplayer plug-in. To obtain the plugin, go to Macromedia's download page. This link will open a new page, when you've installed the plug-in, close the new window and go back to For help installing the plug-in, download the installation instructions Word document. (NOTE: You will only need to download this plug-in once). 4. Ensure you have a current CPR certification Your CPR certification must be through the American Heart Association. The certification must be the BLS for Healthcare Providers or above. The following is a website to find the closest facility that offers the courses: Class_UCM_303220_SubHomePage.jsp. If you need assistance, please call the Customer Service Center at (877) AHA-4CPR. 5. Review Blank RN-BS Program Plan (enclosed) For Fall 2012 registration purposes, please follow the attached blank program plan to register for nursing courses. Moving forward from the Fall 2012, you will use USF s degree audit system DegreeWorks, which is accessible from Oasis ( to track your progress towards graduation. DegreeWorks looks at degree requirements and coursework completed to produce an easy-to-read audit. Your individual DegreeWorks account will be prepared for you indicating applicability of your transfer courses by USF undergraduate admissions and/or prior USF credits by September 1, Complete and Return College of Nursing Health Form (optional depending on schedule) The College of Nursing Health Form is required ONLY if you plan on attending on-campus courses for any required FKL, Foreign Language, or State Mandated requirements. If you start as an online student and later need to take an on campus courses, the health form will be immediately required and your registration will be put on hold. If needed, the form must be completed by a licensed ARNP or Physician. Office stamps and/or additional attached documentation will not be accepted in lieu of a Provider s signature and license number. No other attachments are needed with the form. Please contact Mrs. Jaquith or Mrs. Wolters if you plan to take on-campus classes the form will be ed to you for completion. 7. Register for Classes: The USF Registrar s office will assign an appointment time to you each for registration purposes. The appointment time will give you the day and time you can start registering for classes. Once your appointment time arrives and you have completed the above steps (and the holds on your account have been removed) you can register for your courses. For a tutorial on how to register: The schedule of classes is called class schedule search. You will use the class schedule search to find your courses. You will need the CRN # of the corresponding course in order to register. You will find the CRN # in the CRN column on the schedule search results. Tips on using Schedule Search: Select Term (Spring, Summer or Fall) Select Campus (Tampa) Select College (Nursing)
4 Please note: You are not able to register for any course that is specified as UPPER DIV/SBN or UD or SBN Log into Oasis ( From the main menu click student then click register, add or drop classes. Place the CRN # in the CRN box and then click submit. (You can submit more than one class at a time). Please note: when viewing schedule search results for nursing classes, please pay attention to the title column. You should look for sections that indicate RN Only or no indication at all. You are not able to register for any course that is specified as UPPER DIV/SBN. To view and print your schedule, return to the registration menu and click Student Detail Schedule. 8. Ordering Textbooks Textbooks for Online Classes may be purchased by contacting the USF Health Science Center Bookstore. The bookstore will ship your books via UPS on the same day you place your order IF you place the order before 10:00am. Students may place textbook orders three different ways: 1. Come to the USF Health Sciences Bookstore on Campus 2. Call (813) to place your order 3. Go to the website Instructions on how to identify your course textbooks for the College of Nursing: 1. Go to our website: 2. Find the tab: Resources for Students 3. Select the link: Textbook Information (this will take you directly to the USF Health Bookstore) 4. Click the Shop Now link, then enter your course information in the drop-down menu on the right, add your courses to a list, and View Textbook List on the left. If you do not know certain details of your course (number or section) use your registration info from OASIS. If no textbooks are listed, it may mean your instructor has not added them yet with the bookstore. Contact your instructor for more information. 9. Please NOTE: There is mandatory first week attendance. If you do not log in by Friday of the first week by 5pm, you will be dropped from your classes. Be sure that you log into Blackboard on the first day of the to ensure there are no technical difficulties. The courses that you registered for in OASIS will appear under s in which you are enrolled. Click on each course to view announcements, course syllabus, etc. Classes begin August 27, 2012
