1 Photography II Instructor: Josh Cho Office Hours: 15 minutes after class Classroom meetings: Tuesdays, 7 10pm January 7 - March 4 Room 307 Westwood Center Location shoot: Sunday 1/12, 2-5pm Lab meetings: Sundays, 10am 1pm January 26 & February 9 Room B04 Westwood Center Course Description This class is a continuation of Photography I, in which you learned the basics of photography. At this point you should have a working knowledge of the camera you are using in manual mode. This is an assignment driven photography class. The assignments are based on the various genres of photography, which are similar to the genres of painting (i.e. portrait, landscape, still life, etc). Most of the class will be spent in critique, with the students sharing the work they have made outside of class. On a practical level, the goal of the class is to hone your technical ability to make a photograph so that you can produce a final project that will be worth 30% of your grade. The critiques will also provide an environment in which you can learn to better speak about your photographs and your intentions. If you are more experienced with photography, and would like to deviate from the assignments and still get feedback, please just let me know and we'll work something out. Course Pre-requisites Photography I Course Objectives/Learning Outcomes By the end of this course, a successful learner should be able to: 1. To develop a basic understanding of using a 35mm digital single lens reflex camera. 2. To develop a basic understanding of Photoshop. 3. Policies About Deadlines and Late Work Life happens and I understand that work and family emergencies occur. Work that is one week late may be submitted for credit at a 10% reduction of the total score, however the work will miss the opportunity of having a critique.
