3 Page 3 CSILE: Build a Community of Knowledge Builders In what is coming to be called the 'knowledge age,' the health and wealth of societies depends increasingly on their capacity to innovate. The University of Louisville College of Education provides a free service, CSILE, allowing students, classrooms, and teachers to build a virtual community of knowledge workers based upon principles of Knowledge Building in an interactive virtual space. 4 Page 4 Previous Responsibilities/Work Experiences TIP (Technology integration Project). Led a team of 10 teachers in developing training for all teachers in Jefferson County Public Schools. At the elementary level ALL 5 th grade teachers teaching Science have received a tablet computer and projector. At the middle school level, ALL Middle School Science teachers have received a tablet computer and projector. At the High School level, ALL High School Math teachers have received a tablet computer and projector. The TIP Project involves every teacher in JCPS. The TIP Project has developed and delivered more training for teachers than other project in JCPS except the Literacy Project CASA (Computer Application Skills Assessment). The CASA is annually given to 22,000 students in 3 rd, 5 th, 8 th, and 10 th Grades. Under my leadership a team rewrote the technology curriculum in Jefferson County Public Schools to reflect national standards as outlined by ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). (The electronic version of the curriculum is available to anyone upon request) Served on the commonwealth work team that developed the Kentucky Program of Studies and Curriculum for Technology Instruction P-12 Led a team of resource teachers developing Technoversity; providing technology professional development to ALL teachers in the Jefferson County Public Schools during the summer months and throughout the school year. Technoversity s broad themes encompass technology integration into the curriculum, specific application skill development, and skill development in new technology. Classroom teachers demonstrating best practices in technology integration into the classroom man Technoversity. The Technoversity is the second highest attended PD in JCPS. One of the founding teachers in the TLI (Technology Leadership Initiative). The TLI is a joint venture between the University of Louisville and the Jefferson County Public Schools. Originally the TLI was targeted at computer lab teachers and School Technology Coordinators (STC s), in search of Master s and Rank Present

5 Page 5 certifications. The TLI focuses on Application Integration into the curriculum, Distance Learning, Web Development, and Multimedia Authoring. It has since broadened its scope to include classroom teachers from all levels of education. Lead for the CSILE (Computer Supported Intentional Learning Environment) project. CSILE is a student focused virtual community of knowledge builders that is based upon research work developed by Dr. Carl Bereiter and Dr. Marlene Scardamalia from the University of Toronto s Ontario Institute of Studies in Education Recognitions/Awards ExCel Award 1993 Member Leadership Education 1992 Distinguished Leadership Award from the National Association of Community Leadership. Teacher of the Year Award from the Council of Retarded Citizens Affiliations/Memberships ISTE, International Society for Technology in Education 1994-Present
