12 UNICORE in Japan National Research GRID Initiative (NaReGI) was launched Budget: 100M USD for 5 years Announcement at GGF7, Tokyo, March 2003: NaReGI has decided to use UNICORE as standard Grid middleware

13 UNICORE development and distribution model UNICORE interfaces are owned by the UNICORE Forum UNICORE core system developed by Fujitsu Laboratories and Pallas Open source license available for research and evaluation ( For commercial/production use: contact Pallas for license/support agreement For use in other Grid projects: individual arrangements Contributed software modules developed by partners (e.g. resource broker, plug-ins,...) Can be exploited by partners or supported by Pallas
