The Dragonfly workflow shows and describes how to get the request generated in AVImark for the X-Rays that are to be taken. Then AVImark sends the job to the Modality work list with all of the client and patient information. The Image request then showing on the worklist can then be fulfilled by the shots being taken and the images are sent back to Dragonfly so that they can be viewed from within AVImark as thumbnails that open up the Dragonfly PACS viewer so that the diagnosis can take place. 3
Dragonfly Setup The Options for Dragonfly setup are found in the Advanced Options within Avimark. First Click on the Wrench speed bar icon at the top of the screen. Type in key word Dragonfly in the search field. 1. Active has to be set to true 2. Computer to GUID to Monitor Dragonfly PACS Request Status can be left blank because with the last update, it automatically searches when you open the radiograph tab on the medical history tab. 3. Dragonfly Local Pacs Program Path should be set to C:\dicomPACS. 4. Dragonfly Network PACS Program Path this is the path to the mapped network drive that is going to be located on all viewing stations. Should be N:\dicomPACS 5. Dragonfly PACS Imported Shots Treatment Code reconciles emergency captures with a patient in AVImark. 6. Dragonfly PACS Miscellaneous Shot Treatment Code The plan code on your modality that you would like to associate additional shots taken that were not ordered. 7. Dragonfly PACS Server should be set to the IP address on the PACS server with the path to the dicompacs folder. (ex \dicomPACS) 8. If writing a CD this option has been inactivated because cds can now be burned by using dragonfly internal software. 9. Location of BDT2Pacs.exe File should be set to C:\BDT 10. Minutes Between Status Checks this is the amount of time between queries for shots taken on the modality and associating them with the patient s medical history. 11. SQL Database should be set to AVImark 12. Wait Seconds After Starting up Dragonfly PACS set time for Dragonfly to open once you launch it from within the patient s medical history. 4
Additional Setup There are additional options to link your modality to AVImark in your Dicom Modalities. Go to your Work With menu and Click on Dicom Modalities Locate the modality type that you are using (e.g. Digital Radiography DR or Computed Radiography CR). Highlight the appropriate modality and over on the right where you have records for your modality you can do a Right-Click new and put in the AE title on your modality and description. Click the Plan Codes tab at the top. Right-Click, New and add in a shot code or Dicom plan code from your modality and make the description Radiograph Request. Click OK. 5
Associating Radiograph Codes with Dragonfly To associate a code with your modality within AVImark, go to Work With, Treatments. Find the treatment code for which you want to associate. Right-Click, Change on the Code. Click on the laboratory tab at the top. Right-Click, New and the source should be Dragonfly, the AE title should default to the AE title associated in the Dicom Modalities Table. In the shot description dropdown it should show all of your plan codes that were set up in the Dicom Modalities Table and by selecting this it will automatically fill in the code. Creating a Radiograph Request in AVImark To create a request in AVImark, go into the patient area for which you are creating a radiograph request for and do a Right-Click and go to Create Request. 6
This will open the DICOMs window. Within this window, highlight the appropriate shot description with a Left-Click and click the Space Bar to select it. Now select a Doctor from the drop-down to assign the request to and click done. In the notes window that comes up, simply enter any notes that the technician taking the X-Rays should have concerning the shots (skull, left leg, front left paw etc.) This will place the request in the patient s medical history and send the request to your modality (CR, DR, etc.). On your modality, open the worklist to find the request that was generated. 7
Fill the request and send the images back to Dragonfly. Now go back into the patient medical history record and find the request that was entered, highlight it and click the radiograph check box in the lower left corner to open and see the thumbnails of the shots taken. From within the radiograph requests status window to view the images and launch Dragonfly simply Right-Click on one of the images and you will have 3 choices. View this image, view study with this image, and view all images for this patient. Click on one of these options and it will launch Dragonfly with the viewer. There are additional options that can be accessed if by Right-Clicking in the area below where provider, AE Title, Description etc. 8

TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) Measuring Function The implemented functions in Dragonfly PACS also include the measuring tool for TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) crucial ligament operations in veterinary medicine. It was necessary to implement this function, since crucial ligament ruptures in canines are increasingly treated by changing biomechanics, using osteotomy an operation procedure involving precision cutting through the bone and securing it in a changed position by means of plates and screws, with a view to permanently correct displacements. The TPLO measuring tool helps to determine the existing slope of the tibial plateau and its theoretical optimization. The TPLO provides the surgeon with a promising method to treat crucial ligament ruptures in canines, allowing the patient to walk again without any pain within a short period after the operation. 20
TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) Measuring Tool The TTA measuring technique for treating crucial ligament ruptures in canines is one of the numerous functions of Dragonfly PACS. When applying TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) as opposed to TPLO, osteotomy is applied to the non-load-bearing part of the tibia. Accordingly, the TTA measuring tool is used to apply the translated length measurements at the tuberositas tibiae. 21
Distraction Index The distraction index measures how loose the hip joints are and is thus an important measuring instrument to assess hip dysplasia. The distraction index serves to determine the displacement of the femoral head from the joint socket of the hip joint. This measuring function provides an easy tool for veterinary medicine to assess this displacement 22
