Program combines 2

3 paid work assignments with classroom training and development opportunities. Applicants must be US citizens or in the process of obtaining US citizenship who will complete their advanced degree program by the end of August 2013 or within two years prior to the application window. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program The National Science Foundation funds three years of financial support over a five year period, including a $30,000 annual stipend and a $12,000 annual cost of education allowance, for graduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as psychology and the social sciences. Students must be US citizens, nationals or permanent residents, enrolled in a research focused Master s or Ph.D. program that is supported by the NFS by Fall 2013 and have completed no more than twelve months of full time graduate study (or the equivalent) as of August 1, Deadlines: November 2012 (specific deadlines vary by field). Udall Foundation Scholarships Up to $5,000 for students whose career interests fall into one of the following categories: the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care. Applicants must be sophomores or juniors, US citizens or permanent residents, with at least a B average. Nomination by UW required. UW Application Deadline: November 15, Information and application materials for the program here. UW Bothell General Scholarship Open to all currently enrolled UW Bothell students. With one application students will be considered for multiple scholarships that will be awarded during 2013 winter and spring quarters. Deadline: December 1, Information and application materials for the program here. Fall 2013 EPA Greater Research Opportunities Fellowships for Undergraduate Environmental Study Up to $20,700 per academic year and around $8,600 for a three month summer internship offered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Development National Center for Environmental Research to students majoring in environmental science. Applicants must be in their junior year of college at the time of starting the application. In addition to having an overall B grade at the time of the application and throughout the fellowship period. Deadline: December 5, Information and application materials for the program here. Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Program Sponsored by the Department of Defense, this program provides full scholarships to students in STEM fields. Program also offers summer internships and mentoring, in exchange for employment with the government after graduation. Applicants must be US citizens at the time of application and must demonstrate a strong interest in working as research scientists or engineers for the Department of Defense. Deadline: December 14, Information and application materials for the program here. Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship The Payne Fellowship provides up to $90,000 over two years toward a two year master's degree, arranges internships on Capitol Hill and at USAID missions overseas, and provides professional development and support activities leading to employment in USAID. The fellowship must be used at a U.S. graduate or professional institution approved by the Payne Program to study a USAID Foreign Service related area including: international relations, public policy, business 3

4 administration, foreign languages, etc. Fellows enter the USAID Foreign Service at the end of the fellowship. Applicants must be college seniors or graduates (with any undergraduate major) looking to start graduate school in the fall of the year they apply, have at least 3.2 GPA and be U.S. citizens.
