2 A sponsored walk to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestinians from Oxleas Woods to Crystal Palace We are lucky to live in a city nearly four times the size of Gaza, which we can leave whenever we like, but in which there are large areas of green space. Much of Gaza has been reduced to rubble and is still under blockade. This walk is a great way of appreciating what we've got in London while spreading the message about Gaza. It doesn't matter how much or how little money you raise: just enjoy the day out and spread the word. Get sponsorship from friends and family. There is a sponsor form at the end of this document, but you will probably be able to raise a lot more by setting up a JustGiving page and sending out the link. More details below. Timings and Directions Starting at 1030 from the cafe at the top of Oxleas Meadow, and finishing around at Crystal Palace station. The route is about 15 miles. After 10 miles, at about 1400, we will be in the cafe at Beckenham Place Park. So you can just do the first part if you wish. 3 Getting to the Start Bus routes 89, 244 and 486 all go across Shooters Hill. Café From the bus stop nearest to the top of Shooters Hill, near the Bull pub, go into Kenilworth Gardens. Kenilworth Gardens is the opposite side of Shooters Hill Road from the pub.

4 From Kenilworth Gardens, turn left almost immediately. Continue Straight on till you come to the café, where we will meet up. Directions for the rest of the route will be provided on the day.

5 Setting up Your JustGiving Page This is worth doing for a few reasons. Firstly, you can a link to friends and family who you can't reach with a paper form. Secondly, your message and page is a good way of spreading the word about Gaza and why it's important to you. Thirdly, JustGiving will automatically claim 25% of everything donated by anyone who states that they are a UK taxpayer, and pass that to MAP. This makes a big difference. The clerical work that MAP has to do in order to claim Gift Aid based on people ticking the form is costly and time-consuming compared with the fee that JustGiving will charge. 6 You should then be taken directly to where you can create your fundraising page for this specific event. Say No to the question about whether the charity is contributing to the cost. You can set up the details straight away, or come back to them later. In this example (for speed) I have left everything as a default.

9 Recent Work of Medical Aid for Palestinians One of MAP s partners in Gaza the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights have recorded the stories of the lives of every one of the 556 children killed during Israel s Summer 2014 assault. Over the coming year, we will be publishing these children s stories and photographs in remembrance. For some of these children, there is no photograph. In these cases either the entire family has been killed, or all of their possessions destroyed in the attacks, leaving no remaining images of their child. Though the conflict has ended, many threats to Gaza s children remain. The illegal blockade prevents construction materials getting in, meaning that reconstruction has barely begun a year later, and tens of thousands remain homeless. Many vital medicines are at zero-stock levels, chronic malnutrition blights many young lives, and hospitals and clinics remain in rubble. Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP delivers health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement. Working in partnership with local health providers and hospitals, MAP addresses a wide range of health issues and challenges faced by the Palestinian people. With offices located in Beirut, Ramallah, Jerusalem and Gaza City, MAP responds rapidly in times of crisis, and works directly with communities on longer term health development.
