Hours/Week JOB SUMMARY: (This section should summarize the overall purpose ( mission ) of this job in 1-4 sentences. Briefly describe the primary reason the job exists at LCC.) Serve as the program administrator of the LCC academic Child Development and Early Education Program, assuring that the program meets current professional best practices, and reflects current work place and industry requirements. Monitor and implement NAEYC associate s degree accreditation standards and requirements. Prepare program budget, monitor expenditures, assist with curriculum development, advise students, and maintain liaison with the CHDV Academic Lab (ELCC), other LCC departments, external agencies, advisory committee, and the community. Provide didactic and field instruction within the program as required. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate part-time and full-time faculty and administrative staff. Direct Report(s): FF9860, PFCHDV, PLCHDV, CFL001, CFL002, CFL003, CFA018 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify and describe the essential duties and responsibilities, i.e., what actions are done and what are the expected results. Most jobs can be described using 5-10 statements. Other duties, as assigned, are implicit in all position descriptions. % No Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide program administrative leadership including but not limited to: strategic planning, and program development, assessment and effectiveness, accreditation requirements, budget and grant preparation and monitoring. Maintain program outcomes assessment

2 plan and curriculum management plan through curriculum development, evaluation, and revision. Update and develop ongoing academic lab (ELCC) and field placement procedures and guidelines in accordance with program and college objectives, and regulatory requirements (i.e. Child Day Care Licensing, NAEYC accreditation standards). Assess, plan and collaborate in the operation of program facilities that support instructional and student needs and requirements. Analyze instructional and non-instructional program operational issues in order to effectively problem-solve and continuously improve program quality. Determine and coordinate physical facilities and resources required for optimal instructional delivery and student experience. Perform instructional duties as assigned and approved; may vary based on need but not to exceed 25% of workload. Assess, develop, implement, evaluate and revise instructional methods, textbooks, instructional resources, select program materials, and facilities to meet college mission and goals and accreditation standards. Develop and coordinate semester-to-semester schedules for faculty and courses for the program. Recruit, interview, hire, assign, mentor, and evaluate faculty, staff and contracted services individuals. Initiate program or department in-service, staff meetings, and faculty development. Recruit and advise students seeking to enroll in the program, as well as advise those students currently enrolled and progressing towards completing the required curricula. Coordinate communication and liaison activities within and between the college and community practitioners, employers, external regulatory agencies, and advisory committees. Participate in college-wide and divisional meetings and activities as a representative of the program. CORE COMPETENCIES. Required: Master s Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; or currently enrolled in a Masters or higher degree program from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and able to complete within 2 years. At least 18 college credits in Child Development/Early Childhood Education. Significant progressive academic administrative experience in an organization focused on Child Development and/or Early Childhood Education best practices and delivery systems. Teaching experience teaching adults in a structured learning environment about best practices in Child Development and the delivery of high quality Early Childhood Education, including the equivalent of at least one year as a college instructor in this field. One year teaching young children in a licensed child care center, licensed preschool program, or kindergarten. Preferred: Contract and grant management experience Three years progressive administrative experience in an organization focused on Child Development and/or Early Childhood Education best practices and delivery systems. Five years teaching experience teaching adults in a structured learning environment about best practices in Child Development and the delivery of high quality Early Childhood Education, including the equivalent of at least one year as a college instructor in this field.
