3 BSc (Hons) in Engineering (Foundation Year Entry) Our Foundation Entry Degree is the first year of an integrated 4 or 5 year degree programme and provides the necessary foundation for direct and smooth progression to an honours or master s degree. It is ideal if you don t have the formal qualifications to apply directly to the engineering degree of your choice, or feel you have studied the wrong A Levels or vocational qualifications for the career path you wish to pursue. The Foundation Entry year is studied at Runshaw College, with subsequent years studied at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston. On successful completion of the Foundation Entry year, you will then progress to UCLan in Preston to complete your chosen BEng (Honours) or MEng (Master s) degree. Alternatively, you may choose to remain at Runshaw College to study a Foundation Degree in Computer Aided Engineering. Foundation Degrees are qualifications in their own right, equivalent to the first two years of an honours degree and may be topped-up to a full honours degree through an additional year of study at UCLan. Duration The Foundation Entry Degree is the first year of an integrated full-time 4 or 5 year degree programme. It is an intensive full-time one year course studied at Runshaw College. Subsequent years (ie Years 1, 2 & 3 of your chosen honours degree; or Years 1, 2, 3 & 4 of your chosen master s degree) are studied at UCLan in Preston. 4 Entry Requirements You will need 120 UCAS points taken from a minimum of one A Level or a Level 3 vocational qualification. You must also have: GCSE Maths at Grade A*-C GCSE Science at Grade A*-C GCSE English at Grade A*-C, or equivalent. Although not mandatory for this course, it would be useful to have successfully completed GCSE English at Grade A*-C, as this may support you when progressing to the degree of your choice. You may also qualify for the course if you have other qualifications or relevant life or work experience. Money Matters Applying for a 4 or 5 year integrated Foundation Entry degree, means you will have access to student loan funding for the full 4 or 5 years of your studies. The Foundation Entry year of your degree at Runshaw College is also offered at a lower fee than subsequent years, ie 6,000. Please note: If you are considering studying a Runshaw College Foundation Degree at the end of your Foundation Entry year, it is important that prior to enrolling to the Foundation Entry programme you liaise with Student Finance England to research any financial and loan implications. How to Apply You will need to complete a UCAS application online. Simply visit and click on Apply or track your application.
