3 PISA Terminal Italian Railways The PISA terminal, manages the track on the northwest coast of Italy, from Genoa to Rome. Ansaldo Signal NV Group (The Netherlands) won the public tender and partnered with Christie to install and support the display technologies integral to the Centralized Traffic Controls (CTCs). A display wall illustrates the traffic situation in the area, created using 26 DLV1280-DX projection systems. These systems project onto 26 DNP high-contrast, high-gain screens, each displaying 1,310,720 pixels of information (1290 x 1024) at more than 1500 ANSI lumens brightness. Operators work in 8-hour shifts, 24 hours a day, making this command and control installation truly 24/7 mission critical. Christie s Visual Environments solutions simplified designs that are easy to work with and easy to maintain, yet high-performance, highly functional and foolproof. The display wall serves the function of giving all operators and supervisors a general view of the whole traffic situation along the area interested. Each operator has the control of a specific area represented by the display wall. If the operator needs to change the itinerary of one of the trains present in his/her area, the operator zooms in on the area through his computer, using the tools at his disposal on his desktop. All the modifications he makes are represented on the display wall for the other operators and the supervisors to see and make their choices accordingly. The control room in PISA monitors an average of 150 trains every day of the year. The number of passengers benefiting from the work done in PISA every year traffic regulation, security, service, information to the public and emergencies varies between 5,475,000 and 7,300,000, about 15-20,000 passengers per day.

LanZhou Railway As a leading railway operator, LanZhou Railway needs to keep constant tabs on railroad traffic and situations on the track. A total of 30 units of the Christie GraphXMASTER CS70-500Xe were chosen after passing through stringent selection and evaluation processes. Reliability of the product, good quality image projection and the stability of the performance are key criteria when choosing a projector. The projection system was installed in March 2003 and has been operational since May that year. LanZhou Railway can now monitor and regulate the tracks 24/7. The system delivers accurate high-resolution images which contribute to the high efficiency in managing the entire railway system.

6 Transportation Management Hessen s Centralized Traffic Network Operation Center Roma Termini Rome s main train station the Roma Termini manages more than 400,000 passengers each day (around 150 million passengers a year) from a 225,000 m 2 site in the heart of Rome. Their new Command & Control Room provides remote traffic control, regulation, diagnostics, security and emergency control along with general travel information for the public. Christie GraphXMASTER DLV1280 digital projectors provide visualization of the system s and station s operation, which monitors all train movements at the station more than 600 trains per day, every day of the year.
