RetroUI Pro A Better Way to Work in Windows 8 RetroUI is easy to use software that brings back the features Microsoft removed from Windows 8 that long-time users expect such, as the Start menu and the taskbar. Classic Windows-7 Style Start Menu Brings back multi-tasking by allowing access to the Taskbar Control which of the new Windows 8 features you want to use RetroUI Brings back the missing features you want in Windows 8 - Try it today. Start Menu that is customizable and easy to use Taskbar is always visible Runs Windows 8 Apps in a resizable Window TabletView App launcher Skip the tablet interface at Login Turn Off Hot Corners and Charms Bar I've experimented with a number of tools that attempt to make the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 8 a little smoother, and without a doubt, the best utility for doing this is RetroUI. - ZDNET Download a free trial at RetroUI.com
The RetroUI Start Menu The Best Start Menu in the World for Windows 8 Everything You Expect in a Start Menu and a Lot More The RetroUI start menu works exactly the way you think it should. You can easily find and launch applications and shutdown your PC, just like you are used to. RetroUI is just getting started though. Thinix has integrated a number of unique features into the RetroUI start menu: Pin any classic App or new Metro App to Favorites Pin Popular Websites to Favorites Launch the Start Menu by pressing your Windows key on your keyboard, even in the new tablet interface Customize the Start Menu and Button by selecting your preferred color and icon choice Use Search to quickly find files or Apps All of the standard Start Menu features you expect like Shutdown options, Control Panel, Run, and more You need RetroUI Pro -Forbes Special Buttons in the Start Menu integrate the Windows 8 features

RetroUI Enforce Access the Taskbar While in the New Live Tiles (Metro) Interface No More Guess Work. The Taskbar is Right Where You Think it Should Be. Most PC users are accustomed to having the taskbar on the bottom or side of the screen. It is a key tool in the ability to multitask, especially in a business environment with legacy applications. This has changed in Windows 8 and now the Start screen hides the taskbar from sight until you exit the Modern UI. Patent pending technology from Thinix, called RetroUI Enforce, works by taking control of the new Start screen so that the taskbar is visible. This means you can now multitask just like you did in earlier version of Windows. You can also directly access the new RetroUI start menu and TabletView, which are in the task bar where the Windows Start button used to be. the new version really stands out, offering the ability to squeeze Windows Store apps into a regular window, bring the taskbar into the tiled UI, and more. -LifeHacker.com
RetroUI Enforce Access the Taskbar from the New Windows 8 (Metro) Interface With RetroUI s patentpending Enforce technology the Taskbar and Start Menu ARE easily accessible from inside the new Windows 8 (Metro) Interface. Without RetroUI the Taskbar is NOT visible from inside the new Windows 8 (Metro) Interface.
RetroUI Enforce Run Windows Store Apps (Metro Apps) in a Resizable Window Making Windows 8 Better for Desktop and Laptop Users: Without RetroUI you are forced to run everyone of the new tablet-style Modern UI Apps fullscreen. This may work well on a tablet, but on a desktop it is less than desirable. RetroUI gives you the ability to run them in a Window with a familiar Close Button [X]. The Taskbar is visible so you have access to the classic desktop for multi-tasking. Download Today RetroUI.com I'd like to thank you for such a brilliant piece of software [RetroUI Pro], I like that my desktop is no longer pretending to be a tablet. -T.W. RetroUI customer
RetroUI Enforce Run the New Windows 8 (Metro) Apps in a Window With RetroUI s patentpending Enforce technology the new Windows 8 Apps can be run in a resizable window or fullscreen, with our without the Taskbar being shown, you can decide. Choices are great. Without RetroUI the Taskbar is NOT visible and Apps can ONLY run fullscreen.
TabletView Organize Your Pinned Favorites With the TabletView App Launcher TabletView App Launcher - Allow Quick Access to Favorites TabletView is an App launcher for Windows 8 that contains a view of all of your Favorites that you Pin in the Start Menu. You can launch TabletView by selecting the white 6-tile icon located next to the start button. With TabletView you can launch of your Pinned Favorites in just two clicks. TabletView has a small view that is similar in size to the Start Menu and a second view that is fullscreen. You can decide what size TabletView to use and can pick from a choice of icon sizes. You can Pin almost anything to TabletView: Launch any classic Windows 8 Launch any new Windows Store App (metro) My Computer Documents, Music, Videos, Pictures Tools such as Control Panel, command prompt, etc. Popular websites like Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, MSN

RetroUI SuperSize Stretch Windows 8 Apps across multiple monitors This is a screenshot of the Windows 8 Travel App running on dual 1920 x 1080 desktop monitors with Super- Size running. The resulting experience is spectacular. It gives users the ability to pan 360 degree views with an edge-to-edge experience. This is all done in software and requires no special hardware. What is RetroUI SuperSize and why is it great for multiple monitor users: Until now, the only way to span (not stretch) Apps across multiple displays was to purchase specialized video cards with specialized software. This frequently costs hundreds of dollars and isn t really an option for users with a simple setup such as a laptop connected to a desktop monitor. RetroUI SpuerSize gives the ability to span Windows 8 across multiple monitors. It does this by presenting the App with a virtual display which enables the app to run at very high resolution. The advantage of the Thinix SuperSize solution is that it allows multiple displays to be integrated together into a single, large, virtual display. This technology is then integrated into RetroUI Pro, to allow the user to do things like toggle Apps from resizable/windowed, to full-screen borderless by simply pressing [F12]. This technology can be easily turned on/off when desired and needed. This is a screenshot of the Windows 8 Finance App running on dual 1920 x 1080 desktop monitors with Super- Size running. The resulting experience provides a high-resolution view of the information giving the user the ability to see more detail than possible with a single monitor and reducing the need to pan the display.
RetroUI SuperSize Control How Apps Display Across More Than One Display The above image is from the Photosynth Windows 8 App running across dual monitors. SuperSize allows multiple displays to be fully utilized for Windows 8 Store Apps. We have tested several Apps that work great, and a few (such as the normal Windows 8 Photos App) that don t work well at all. Interestingly, most of the games we have tested, and dozens of other Windows 8 Apps work great. This technology can be applied to advertising, interactive technologies in a museum or trade show booth, at the desktop level for productivity applications, in medical applications for 3D visualization, architectural applications for virtual walkthroughs, as well as for watching movies, and for immersive gaming experiences using native Windows 8 Apps! This is a screenshot of the Windows 8 Maps App running on dual 1920 x 1080 desktop monitors with SuperSize running. The resulting experience provides a high-resolution view of the map giving the user the ability to see more map detail than possible with a single monitor.
RetroUI - Skip Metro Switch From This...Back to This Bypass or Completely Block the Modern UI (Metro) Features Bypassing or disabling the Metro features can be an important tool for many businesses and users of normal non-touchscreen computers. Skip or block Metro/Modern UI for a variety of reasons: You aren't comfortable using the Metro UI Business systems for workers that don t need or want the Metro UI Task workers that just use a small number of applications You primarily use legacy not from the Windows App Store (non-metro apps) Advanced Settings: Advanced users can configure RetroUI to completely disable the Metro UI features after Login. This disables Windows Charms Bar, Hot Corners and Metro Switcher. Once disabled, these features are inaccessible by keyboard, touch, and mouse input during the user session. Retro UI can also optionally only disable the hot corners in Windows 8, but leave the other features in tact. This allows you to skip those annoying pop-up boxes along the edge of the Window. Multiple Monitor setups that make sense: Windows 8 forces you to have the Start screen on one of the monitors - even if you don't have a touchscreen monitor. RetroUI allows you to skip the Start screen on all monitors. if desired. RetroUI Pro also supports placing Windows Store (Metro) apps in a window and moving them from one monitor to the next and places the start Menu on each monitor. Download Now - RetroUI.com

Microsoft included a traditional desktop which is similar to Windows 7 within Windows 8. Windows 8 to require users to first go to the Start screens before anything else. Limitations: However, they designed When returning from a Windows Lock screen, if a Metro style application is running, RetroUI cannot close the Metro app. RetroUI is designed and tested to work with Windows 8 RTM version win8_rtm Registered users of RetroUI will be able to download updates to RetroUI. However, in the event that Microsoft removes the ability or somehow completely prevents RetroUI from functioning by releasing future builds, service packs or patches, Thinix cannot control these things and therefore doesn t assert that RetroUI will be compatible with other future versions of Windows 8. In multi-user scenario s, RetroUI supports multiple users on a single machine, but the settings for RetroUI are global on the PC. In other words, you cannot have two users each with different preferences for RetroUI. This may be addressed in a future release of RetroUI.
