1 VIRGINIA ARTS FESTIVAL JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Internet and Security Technologies Director INTRODUCTION: Celebrating its 20 th season, Virginia Arts Festival is the leading performing arts presenter in Hampton Roads. It produces more than 100 cultural programs and events each year in multiple cities in the region. VAF has begun the process of integrating and centralizing its primary data systems, currently maintained separately among the organization s administrative, development, box office, and marketing departments on non-integrated programs. VAF s goal is to successfully move ticket buyer information supported by Ticketmaster and donor information by Raiser s Edge into a new comprehensive platform, Tessitura, to better serve the needs of the organization s various departments. SUMMARY: This newly created position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restructuring of VAF s digital systems and managing the new IT Department. This includes: 1) Managing the transfer of data from existing systems, Ticketmaster and Raiser s Edge to the new system, Tessitura. 2) Managing the integration of Tessitura with web related New Media platforms and Internet platform. 3) Upgrading and maintaining internal servers and software. 4) Improving and streamlining corporate business processes utilizing company internal software, Internet, and media technologies by collaborating with vendors, third-party retailers, colleagues, and other internal functional teams. 5) Creating and implementing the ongoing operations of VAF s Internet platform that support VAF s overall business strategy. 6) Collecting and analyzing data to evaluate existing and potential online and web related New Media initiatives. 7) Overseeing VAF s Internet policies, objectives, and initiatives.

2 8) Reviewing ongoing development in Internet and security technologies and adjusts web policies accordingly. 9) Maintaining systems related to e-commerce including online ticket/subscription sales, merchandise sales, and interfacing with fundraising campaigns. 10) Possessing a thorough understanding for all business logic utilized by VAF Internet & New Media platforms, as well as all third-party systems, which interface with VAF Internet and web related New Media platforms. 11) Collaborating with web staff and other departments, including creative and administrative teams to plan, design and implement short- and long-term technical/coding projects and strategies as well as support and contribute to company web development standards. 12) Monitoring and ensuring reliability, scalability, and general up-time of web platform infrastructure. 13) Managing all security systems and processes, which touch VAF Internet and web related New Media platforms, including the day-to-day administration of the Web Application Firewall (WAF), scheduled static-code analysis and security testing. 14) Implementing any code changes based on security testing and monitoring that will further protect VAF & web related New Media platforms. 15) Authoring security policies, which will ensure protection for all elements of the VAF Internet & web related New Media platforms, including all interfacing third-party applications managed by VAF. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the integration of Ticketmaster and Raiser s Edge to Tessitura Oversee the technical implementation, maintenance, and security of VAF s Internet and web related New Media systems, including day-to-day code programming, and system infrastructure management. Serve as primary technical support for all customer service issues. Serve as technical contact for all web vendors

3 Work with Finance Director to maintain and improve financial and administrative data systems including, accounting, payroll, inventory, contracts, and legal. Work with Development Department to maintain and improve fundraising and donor systems and formulate security strategies, policies, objectives and initiatives. Work with Director of Marketing and other VAF senior staff to formulate web application and security strategies, policies, objectives and initiatives. Work with VAF s Marketing Department as well as other functional areas inside and outside of the organization to fully extend VAF s enterprise information management system and other applicable business systems to VAF s Internet and web related New Media platforms. Stay current with latest development in Internet technologies, security threats, related regulatory and industry standards, perform risk based vulnerability assessment and make recommendations for overall security of VAF s ecommerce platform. Architect distributed solutions, develop design specifications, set coding standards, and ensure secured software development process in compliance with set standards and policies. Administer Web Application Firewall (WAF) for malicious website activities, setting or updating security policies, and making necessary code changes to address ever changing threat landscape. Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of application architecture. Generate documentation for staff and training. Provide in-house training to staff users groups, for in-house systems. Manage VAF Internet and web related New Media project budgets. Manage web and media developers and all external Internet and web related New Media system vendors and contractors. CONTACTS:

QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Bachelor s Degree Required; Master s degree preferred 2) 5+ years of Java (JSP/Servlet) development experience, ATG Dynamo experience preferred 3) 4+ years of.net development experience (VB/C#) 4) 5+ years web application security experience 5) 5+ years working with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, Access) 6) 5+ years of business experience 7) Comprehensive knowledge of current Internet technologies and languages (HTML5, XML, CSS,, Javascript /jquery, Analytics, Web Services). 8) Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise business application architecture and systems. 9) Diplomacy and sensitivity in communicating and working with a wide and diverse constituency. 10) Ability to function as a strong leader as well as a member of a team. 11) Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously. 12) Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain a good sense of humor.
