2 Probation Outcome Statistics After having worked through Module 6 you should have a good understanding about the value of Probation statistics for both the probation service and other parts of the justice system. This Exercise is to develop your thinking in one specific area. Its main learning objective is to help you understand the value of probation outcome statistics. The exercise should last around 20 minutes. The answers are all found in Module 6 and on the web site referred to. 2

3 Coverage of probation outcome statistics questions In addition to workload statistics the effectiveness of the probation service is measured through looking at the outcomes of its work. Most of the replies can be found on the first few pages of the brief. 14
