2 Program Overview Leadership Institute Overview The Colorado FCCLA Leadership Institute is a training and development program for all affiliated members. The Member Leadership Institute is comprised of three leadership development programs for leaders at the chapter, district, and state levels. Chapter Officer Program District Officer Program State Officer Program Participants choose a program based on their office level. Completers of each program receive a Certified Officer Certificate, an invitation to the SLC VIP Party, specialty ribbon for SLC Nametag and recognition during the opening session at the Colorado State Leadership Conference. Members may take 1 4 years to complete an individual program. All registrations are due to the Colorado FCCLA State Office by November 15, A chapter that has a large number of program completers will have preferred seating at all session at the State Leadership Conference. Leadership Institute Outcomes Promote the ultimate leadership experience Gain knowledge and understanding of leadership Cultivate a sense of self-awareness through identifying and developing a leadership vision and style Demonstrate communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills through leadership activities Promote leadership through Family and Consumer Sciences Education 2

Chapter Officer Program The Chapter Officer Program is designed to give chapter leaders the skills they will need to be successful throughout their term in office. Members may take 1 4 years to complete this program. The program includes four courses that teach chapter officers basic leadership skills, how to manage projects and meetings, and how to advocate for FCCLA. Each chapter officer participant will be assigned a current state officer who will serve as a mentor and resource. Program Outline Location Outline Courses Assignments Participants will attend three Course: Leadership 101 Leadership Inventory* Fall Leadership state officer lead workshops at the Fall Leadership Conference. Course: FCCLA 101 Course: Working as a Letter to Self Vision Statement * Conference Team *Completed in workshop Participants will attend their Will vary from district to Conference program District Conference and attend district signed by district officer District Conference workshops provided by district or state officers. District Officer Program The District Officer Program is designed to give district leaders the skills they will need to lead their district throughout their term in office. Members may take 1 4 years to complete this program. The program includes four courses that teach district leader large scale leadership skills, how to plan and host district leadership trainings, and how to advocate for FCCLA. Each district officer participant will be assigned a current state officer who will serve as a mentor and resource. Program Outline Location Outline Courses Assignments Participants will attend two Course: Leadership 201 Take the Lead Module Fall Leadership state officer lead workshops at the Fall Leadership Conference. Course: Planning Workshops from Power of One Conference District Conference Participants will a plan and host one leadership training/ workshop for their district members. None Evidence of workshop List of workshop materials Promoting FCCLA Promoting FCCLA Participants will plan a formal presentation to promote FCCLA to one outside entity. Course: Advocacy Basics Speak Out for FCCLA Module from Power of One Participants will a plan and Course: Time Man- Evidence of membership Program Project execute one membership activity on the district level to recruit, retain, or recognize agement 102 activity Planning Process members. State Officer Program The State Officer Program is designed to give state officers (elected yearly) the skills they will need to lead the state membership throughout their term in office. The program includes five courses that teach state officers how to facilitate leadership development, how to plan and execute peer education projects, how to advocate for FCCLA, and the mentoring process. Each state officer will act as mentor to chapter/ district officers. Program Outline Location Outline Courses Assignments State Officer Training Participants will attend the State Officer Training at the National Leadership Conference. See Leadership Academy Guide Completion of the Master State Officer Program Participants will develop one Colorado CTSO Training Development of 1 of the LI Peer Education of the following workshops at the Fall Leadership Conference and two peer education Fall Leadership Conference Member Courses Evidence of peer education roundtables Leadership Promoting FCCLA Mentorship Participants will be the chair of one committee on the Executive Council and complete a state officer project. Participants will complete two community outreach visits. Participants will mentor chapter or district officers in the Leadership Development Institute. Executive Council Meeting Up-to-date Committee Notebook State Officer Project None Community Outreach None Meet with Mentee Monthly Reports on mentorship activities Program Recognition Certified State Officer Leader Certificate and recognition at the State Leadership Conference. I understand all school district policies may apply. Causes for disciplinary action to be taken: A. The possession or consumption of any intoxicating beverage, narcotic drug, or illegal substance by any member is prohibited. (This excludes member s own prescription drugs.) Local authorities may be notified of the incident. B. Members of the opposite sex are not allowed in sleeping rooms in hotels unless an adviser is present in the room. NO EXCEPTIONS even with the door open. C. Defacing of property (including pulling fire alarms) any damages to, or loss of furnishings located on the premise of the FCCLA function will be paid for by the responsible individual(s). Local authorities may be notified of the incident. D. Violation of school and/or hotel tobacco policies. E. Violation of curfew (as stated in program). F. Violation of dress code (as stated in the conference policies and information). G. Violation of harassment policies. H. Any other act that brings criticism or discredit to Colorado FCCLA and/or chapter as determined by the hotel, CTSO Specialist or Chapter Adviser/sponsor. Disregarding or Violating the Code of Conduct Delegates who disregard or violate this code will be subject to disciplinary action including, but not limited to, competitive event disqualification, forfeiture of privileges to attend further events, confinement to your hotel room, dismissal from the conference, and being sent home at your own expense. Parents and/or guardians will be notified and FCCLA reserves the right to notify law enforcement. Any Code of Conduct violation must be brought to the attention of the State Adviser prior to the conclusion of the conference. Disciplinary decisions will be made by Chapter Adviser(s) and/or State Advisor and/or local administrator. This is to acknowledge I have read and understand the FCCLA Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct and conference Dress Code.
