3 Introduction The Osseointegrated Implant Certificate Course (12 days in 6 Months) This certificate course will take place within my practice. It will be a limited attendance course run over twelve days in a six month period (two days per month), with the following objectives: The aim of the course is to follow two patients from their examination, treatment planning, operation (in our practice operating theatre), through to the provisional restoration. Every aspect of the patient s treatment will be covered, including their management within the practice environment. Each delegate will have the opportunity to be mentored on a single tooth Implant case on a 1:1 basis (with their nurse present). These cases are included in the course fee, (see note later in this letter) from examination to the fitting of the provisional restoration. The mentoring is performed separate from the main course. The delegate may also choose to be Mentored externally nearer to home and then the mentoring fee will not be charged. Each day will link into the relevant point of the particular patient s treatment plan; it will include a detailed literature review. Presentations will be given with the aid of digital technology or video in the practice lecture theatre. Delegates will be given tasks to perform each month. These will include a literature review and designing a treatment plan to include writing a treatment planning letter for the Study Case. The delegates will also need to write the treatment planning letter for their Implant case (their mentored case). Topics to be covered during this programme include Anatomy, Physiology, Biomaterials and Sterility. Surgical Techniques (including Bone Augmentation and Advanced Surgical Techniques), Implant Impression Techniques, Jaw Registration, Articulation, and Periodontal Considerations (including Guided Tissue Regeneration) it will also include Connecting Teeth to Implants Medico legal aspects will be covered by Dr Alan Cohen or Dr Stephen Henderson from Dental Protection. Radiography will be fully covered by Dr Andrew Dawood of Cavendish Imaging and Mr Barry Chandler of IDT. Delegates will also be able to watch a CT scan being taken on one of the patients we shall be following. Dr Joe Omar will talk on medical emergencies. Dr Maria Retzepi will talk on Perio-Implant problems. The fee is 3,500 for the ten days days, which will include lunch and literature. An extra fee of 4500 will be charged to cover all costs involved in taking your single tooth implant mentored case from surgery to the provisional restoration.
