2 Activities Recognise those university-level programs that meet the accreditation criteria Custodian of the OHS Body of Knowledge Advocate for a sustainable environment for OHS education DPP (Vic) v Coates Hire Operations Pty Ltd [2012] Death of a sub contract driver fatally injured in a loading incident where documented procedures were not followed. inexplicable that that Coates occupational health and safety manager had failed to enforce Coates safety requirement when he knew it was being breached, and that he was ignorant of the fact that contract drivers had not been given the necessary tools to enable equipment to be freewheeled once the winch was attached the company s safety manager... knew that this requirement was being ignored, and did nothing to enforce compliance.. Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) v Centennial Financial Services Pty Ltd (2010), while HR manager was overborne by Manager, and did not exercise independent judgment. as HR manager he "...should have been aware of, and at least attempted to give advice on, the companies obligations under" the WR Act. HR manager fined $3750 OHS is a management responsibility But managers need specialist advice Due diligence includes doing all that is reasonably practicable to obtain appropriate advice and being able to demonstrate that it is reasonable to rely on that advice 2

Capability Capability is the applied theoretical knowledge that underpins practice in occupations and professions and also the industry specific knowledge and skills that transcend particular workplaces and the tacit knowledge of the workplace.
