1 SHIN-TOWER WANG, P.E., Ph.D. Education The University of Texas at Austin: Ph.D., Civil Engineering, 1986 The University of Texas at Austin: M.S., Civil Engineering, 1982 National Cheng-Kung University Tainan, Taiwan: M.S., Civil Engineering, 1977 National Cheng-Kung University Tainan, Taiwan: B.S., Civil Engineering, 1975 Professional History Ensoft, Inc./Lymon C. Reese & Associates, Inc. Austin, Texas Principal - Chairman 1987-Present Woodward-Clyde Consultants Houston, Texas Staff Engineer The University of Texas at Austin Austin, Texas Research Assistant Moh and Associates Consulting Engineers Taipei, Taiwan Geotechnical Engineer Representative Experience Dr. Wang has a strong academic background in both the geotechnical and structural engineering fields. His research interests are in soil-structure-interaction analysis, deep foundation design, and numerical analysis using finite-element and finite-difference methods. He has been actively engaged in a variety of consulting projects especially for offshore platforms, large-scale wind farms, and long-span bridges in the U.S. and abroad, and development of well-recognized engineering software. He is the author/coauthor of one text book and more than forty papers/research publications on foundation engineering. His project involvement includes the following: 1
2 At Moh and Associates Consulting Engineers in Taipei, Dr. Wang participated in numerous geotechnical engineering projects. His primary experience includes planning and execution of site investigation, analysis of excavation and de-watering problems, and design of foundations and retaining structures. At the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Wang as a research assistant concentrated on the state-of-the-art design of pile foundations. He has been involved in the full-scale pile loading test for Sunshine Skyway Bridge, Florida. He has worked on the study of pore water pressures near foundation piles under lateral loading during storm at North Rankin, Australia. He also developed soil models to take into account soil-pile-soil interactions for analyses of closely-spaced pile groups. At Woodward-Clyde Consultants, Dr. Wang was involved in slope stability analysis, landfill design, waste disposal and, groundwater recovery projects. At Ensoft, Inc./Lymon C. Reese & Associates, Dr. Wang has been closely associated with the foundation behavior and capacity under static and seismic conditions, field instrumentation, testing and remote wireless monitoring, detailed design of foundation structure system. He has provided comprehensive soil-structure-interaction analyses for many offshore platforms, largescale wind farms, and long-span bridges. He has been the engineering manager and principal engineer of consulting projects in the U.S. and abroad in the past 25 years. Dr. Wang has co-authored several well-accepted computer programs that are currently used by the industry for the static and dynamic analyses of single and group piles, design of flexible retaining structures, and analyses of offshore pipe lines and riser.
