2 Axiom portfolio selector This questionnaire is designed to determine which Axiom Portfolio most accurately matches your investment profile, risk tolerance and time horizon. Simply complete the questionnaire to determine your score and then select the corresponding portfolio. 1. Please select the type of investment account: a. Registered. b. Non-registered. 2. Which of the following statements best describes your income needs? a. My primary concern is capital preservation. I do not wish to generate income. b. My investments should generate regular income. c. My investments should generate some regular income and also grow in value over time. d. My investments should grow over time. Generating a regular income is of minimal concern. e. My investments should grow substantially in value over time. I do not wish to generate income. 3. What is your investment time horizon? Your investment time horizon is an important consideration when looking at your investment objectives, and will influence the asset allocation of your portfolio. For growth-oriented investors it is generally recommended that your investment time horizon be greater than seven years in order to span at least one economic cycle. a. Less than 2 years b. 2 to 5 years c. 6 to 10 years d. More than 10 years
3 4. Which statement best describes the type of investor you are? a. Very Conservative: I place more emphasis on capital preservation over return on investment. b. Conservative: I am looking for capital preservation with moderate return on investment. c. Moderate: I am willing to subject a portion of my capital to increased risk to generate a greater potential rate of return. d. Aggressive: I seek long-term return on investment over capital preservation. I am willing to subject a greater portion of my portfolio to risk in anticipation of a greater rate of return. e. Very Aggressive: I place more emphasis on the long-term return on investment over capital preservation. I am willing to subject most of my portfolio to risk in anticipation of maximizing my rate of return. 5. Please select the statement that best reflects your attitude toward fluctuations in the value of your portfolio. a. I want to avoid the possibility of substantial losses in the value of my portfolio. I understand that this can reduce the possibility of achieving returns that outpace inflation. I prefer little fluctuation in the value of my portfolio. b. I can tolerate moderate losses (10 to 20% in one year) to achieve potentially higher returns over the longer term. c. I can tolerate the risk of large losses (20% or more in one year) to increase the potential for achieving high returns over the longer term. 6. The following table outlines the potential returns of an initial investment of $25,000. After reviewing these investments, in which portfolio would you invest? Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 Portfolio A $28,000 $27,000 $22,500 $30,500 $37,500 Portfolio B $23,000 $28,500 $33,000 $31,000 $35,500 Portfolio C $25,500 $26,000 $28,500 $31,500 $33,500 Portfolio D $26,000 $27,500 $29,000 $31,000 $32,000
