THE BUSINESS SEGMENTS OF THE RAIFFEISEN-LANDESBANK STEIERMARK AG 34 CORPORATE CUSTOMER BUSINESS LIVED PARTNERSHIP In 2009 the corporate customer business of Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG was once again focused on the business segments of industry, institutional customers and the public sector. We have gone through difficult times together with our customers and we have overcome them together. This has included intensive consultations with our customers and bridge financing. Volume of financing EUR 3,360 million +4.0 % Deposits EUR 666 million +7.5 % As a network bank, we held account manager retreats as well as specialist seminars on commercial domestic and international business for the corporate bankers of Styrian Raiffeisen banks. INTERNATIONAL SERVICE WORLD TRADE IN CRISIS In the wake of the economic crisis, world trade really went to the dogs. Through multi-billion Euro aid packages Austria is trying to shore up dramatically falling exports. The downward trend could be slowed in this way, but trade and production in industrial countries is still at a very low level. The volume of transactions in derivatives was EUR 300 million in this business segment and we could also achieve a very satisfactory new volume of leasing of EUR 68 million. In the services business, interest rate hedging was a top priority of the cross-selling. At the same time, the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG could establish itself very well in the financing and services business as a partner of Styrian corporate clients. In 2009, the focus of our marketing was on export and renewable energies. There were customer events on both of these topics, which were received with great interest and were very well attended. This has also clearly left a mark on our international business. The total volumes of documentary business decreased by 27 %. Thus, we are once again at the same level as The total volume of foreign payment transactions also declined by 10 %. PRIVATE CUSTOMER BUSINESS COMMITTED TO PEOPLE The good news first: In a year characterised by a difficult environment in the financial sector, our 11 bank branches as well as the Bauen & Wohnen (Building & Living) and Musterhauspark (Model Home Park) competence centres and the Raiffeisen UniCenter (Raiffeisen University Centre) managed

to achieve very good results. We were once again close to our customers in This closeness, coupled with top service and consulting, resulted in an increase in every area of our private customer business in Savings deposits EUR million % PRIVATE BANKING THE DIFFERENCE TO THE EVERYDAY 2009 was a good year for our Private Banking. We have established ourselves very well in Graz and have got things going. In this way, we have been able to convince many new customers of our offer ANNUAL REPORT Demand deposits (incl. investment and online savings) EUR million % Apart from the primary resources listed in the table, we could also increase the total revenue of resources (primary resources, securities, building society savings, and insurances) in the private customer business. It rose by 0.89 % to EUR 1,098.5 million. The financing volumes also clearly grew. At the end of the year, there was a plus of 12.5 % to EUR 197 million. Our bank is a place of communication. Of course, we once again organised a whole series of events for our customers in The most notable one was certainly our energy saving tent, which we presented as part of the Energy Saving Day on the main square of Graz. But there were also investments in construction in The renovation of the bank branch in Theodor- Körner-Straße got underway and was finished in January Our Private Banking follows a comprehensive advisory approach. Our top priorities are to create, increase and secure assets and to provide total customer service. Our core services range from asset structure consulting to financial planning to investment of assets and generation management. Private banking could increase its market share of high net-worth private and corporate customers and improve customer loyalty in The difference to the everyday could also be felt at numerous special customer events and private viewings. For example, there was a panel discussion on the topic of The Crisis and Then?. State Secretary Reinhold Lopatka spoke on the topic of Taxes, Foundations, Mountains of Debt Where Do Austria s Finances Go? at an evening discussion and Heinz Nußbaumer inspired the audience with his talk on Pilgrimage in Silence On the Holy Mount Athos. The artists Helga Chibidziura, Bernhard Eisendle and Tone Fink presented their work in the Raiffeisen Gallery in

36 INSURANCE & BUILDING SOCIETY SAVINGS WELL INSURED ON A SOLID FOUNDATION In terms of traditional endowment insurance, an excellent result could be achieved in 2009 with a production of EUR million. In comparison with other Raiffeisen regional banks, Styria was ranked number 1. An outstanding annual result was once again achieved for life insurance with a total production of around EUR million. In accident insurance, the portfolio increased by 8.2 % which clearly surpassed the Austrian average of 5.8 %. In terms of building society savings, 458,887 new savings contracts could be concluded in Styria alone. This represents an increase of 1.4 % compared to the previous year. It was possible to expand the overall Austrian portfolio of savings contracts to 1,678,680 and thus to relegate our biggest competitor to second place. APARTMENT, HOUSE & CO. MAKING A HOME In 2009, we had to manoeuvre through a very difficult market environment. On the one hand, the demand, mainly for easy-to-rent town apartments, was great, but the supply was rather scarce. In addition, there was a good deal of scepticism about big real estate investments outside of metropolitan areas. Nevertheless, we could significantly increase both the real estate financing (+17.3 %) as well as the real estate brokerage (+10 %). Purchase prices brokered by Raiffeisen Real Estate Home loan net growth EUR 49.6 million +9.9 % EUR million % As part of the Green Village ideas competition for architects, the prototype for a new kind of residential property was created with high demands on ecology, building biology, quality of housing, security and affordability. The winning project is to be built in CAPITAL MARKET & TREASURY WE CONNECT PEOPLE AND BANKS 2009 was characterised by an extensive easing of markets in spring. Risk premiums declined significantly backed by the action of governments and central banks. The economic crisis was also a big challenge for the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG. All the more gratifying was the fact that we withstood the crisis without any major difficulties. We even managed to expand the strong liquidity situation of the bank in this environment. Higher returns

were realised and we could offer our customers attractive investment opportunities. Many of our customers also took the opportunity to hedge against future risks such as rising interest rates. The issue volume to private and institutional investors was EUR million in There were EUR 2.5 billion of issues outstanding by the end of Especially in a market environment like 2009, it was particularly important for us to be able to offer our customers interesting products and possible solutions. We have investment products and other instruments to take advantage of interesting market opportunities and to control risks for both our private and corporate customers as well as for Styrian Raiffeisen banks ANNUAL REPORT 37 The development of the Liquiditätsverbund Steiermark (Styrian Liquidity Group) was certainly the dominant project of We thus succeeded in establishing a liquidity group made up of the 88 Styrian Raiffeisen banks, the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG and the Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG. Joint management of liquidity according to binding rules guarantees that the members will be able to act from a position of strength in the case of future crises. The efficient use of the securities of the group were organised in the Cover Pool Management project in order to enhance the competitiveness of the group and to further expand access to long-term, cheap liquidity. This includes access to refinancing options from the Swiss National Bank, the use of securities of the Group and the Raiffeisen-Bankengruppe Steiermark (Raiffeisen Banking Group Styria) for participating in tenders of the European Central Bank and the use of receivables as part of what are known as covered bonds (fundierte Schuldverschreibung). RAIFFEISEN BANK SUPPORT PARTNER AMONG PARTNERS Raiffeisen is a three tier banking system. The local Raiffeisen banks form the first tier, the Raiffeisen regional banks the second tier, and finally the third tier is the Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG (Raiffeisen Central Bank Austria). The Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG is, on the one hand, a bank that operates independently on the market and handles any business that exceeds the possibilities of the local Raiffeisen banks. On the other hand, it is also an important institution of the network, which takes over many activities for the local Raiffeisen banks. This mainly includes sales and marketing, organisation and business administration. Our scope of services for Styrian Raiffeisen banks ranges from active support in the strategic and operational alignment of sales and marketing to the development of new organisational concepts to the introduction of business administration systems.

38 In 2009, there were 244 projects in total and 103 seminars and training sessions for a total of 1,336 participants. Thus, about 43 % of the staff of Styrian Raiffeisen banks attended one of the seminars or training sessions offered by the Raiffeisen- Landesbank Steiermark AG. Main focuses of the past year were also the joint development of a concept for the continued intensification of private customer service as well as supporting Styrian Raiffeisen banks in overall bank management systems. Two new controlling instruments were designed and developed as part of this: the Ergebnisvorschaurechnung neu (Profit Forecasting New) and the KOMPASS an analytical tool to monitor volumes, conditions and margins. Both are available to Styrian Raiffeisen banks as of SHAREHOLDINGS STRENGTHENING PARTNERS 2009 saw a slight increase in the book value of our shareholdings. It rose from about EUR 1,112 million to around EUR 1,167 million. The change in the investment volume was mainly due to the spin off of the Computing Centre as a division of Raiffeisen- Landesbank Steiermark AG to its own company. The shareholdings in banks Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG, Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG and the network banks in Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina are still a major part of our shareholdings. A SME financing company was founded at the end of 2008 to assist small and medium-sized businesses. Since 2009, it has invested equity in small and medium-sized businesses. The focus of its investment strategy is mainly aimed at companies with stable economic development, a viable position on the market and primarily some connection to the region. RAIFFEISEN INFORMATICS CENTER STYRIA PLAYING IT SAFE BY THE NUMBERS The first year after the spin off of the Computing Centre as a division of the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG to the Raiffeisen Informatik Center Steiermark GMBH (Raiffeisen Informatics Centre) was characterised by cost optimisation and the further development of our systems and applications. Our customers not only expect us to offer them top quality products and services, but they also expect with good reason that we react promptly to new challenges. The expansion of the IT services provided by us in the areas of financing, money laundering, security and treasury can only be implemented by the continuous optimisation of all service processes. Our IT services could be further im - proved while at the same time maintaining the use of resources through a consistent process orientation. Our online availability is 99.9 %. The number of online transactions was also impressive in 2009 at more than 387 million.

In the first two quarters of 2009, there were investments in the future of the IT infrastructure of our Group. Besides increasing availability, the goals of all the investments were improved scalability and higher efficiency of the system management. Of course, the costs are also to be reduced in the long term. What was particularly gratifying in 2009 was that we won the HP Software Award of Excellence in the category of efficiency. The most innovative international company in terms of optimisation projects in the IT sector was thus honoured also saw significant increases in every area of payment transactions of the Raiffeisen-Bankengruppe Steiermark and the Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG. With million (+2.7 %) we set a new record in payment transactions. The number of online customers also grew at an aboveaverage rate. More than 197,000 customers use ELBA, our online platform, which represents an increase of +8.3 % ANNUAL REPORT 39 PAYMENT TRANSACTIONS OVERCOMING LIMITS The defining topic of 2009 in payment transactions was the implementation of the Payment Services Act (ZaDiG) which went into effect on 1 November. In preparation for this, a total of 473 employees of the Raiffeisen Banking Group Styria and the Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG were trained accordingly. With the entry into force of the Payment Services Act, we also implemented SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) at the same time.

IN OUR SPORT, YOU CAN ONLY WIN AS A TEAM. WE NEED GOOD PLAYERS AND COMPETENT ADVISORS AND SPONSORS WHO BELIEVE IN US. LIKE RAIFFEISEN. Alexander Nunner, BSC Raiffeisen Fürstenfeld

SPONSOR OF SUCCESS 42 Raiffeisen and its customers. A success story. Both trust each other and travel together side by side. But Raiffeisen is not only a reliable partner to customers. Our banking group is also one of the most generous sponsors in Styria. We ensure that a lot succeeds and that Styria can present itself properly. Whether in sports, the arts, the social sector, or science and research. Regardless where: We are not just there, we are right in the middle. We not only help teams to be successful, but we make sure that events can happen, that children can go through life more safely and that research and teaching can progress. In 2009, too. Here are a few examples: In 2009, we were, of course, also heavily involved in the social sector. 2 Beine für 4 Pfoten (2 Legs for 4 Paws), the Bärenburg (child safety house), the Children s Museum, the Maltese Benefit Evening and the Unemployment Fund of the Graz-Seckau Diocese are examples of marvellous projects that we gladly supported. We were also present at the universities of applied sciences and universities of Styria in Our staff members were once again sought-after speakers and advisors in the university sector in 2009, for example, as part of the Media Studies program. In sports, we were, among others, involved in the 100 th Anniversary of Sturm Graz, we supported the basketball players of BSC Raiffeisen Fürstenfeld and UBSC Raiffeisen Graz as well as the Styrian Sports Organisation, the Business Race and the Sport-Union (sports umbrella organisation). Speaking of media, we were, of course, once again a reliable partner of Styrian media in We are there where life takes place and where one can find the people of Styria. In the field of culture, we were, of course, once again on board as the main sponsor of styriarte. Porgy and Bess, Summertime and the Te Deum of Georg Friedrich Händel in Stainz were three productions that we helped make possible and to which we could welcome customers and partners as guests. We were also involved in the film project Auf den Spuren des steirischen Panthers (On the Trail of the Styrian Panther) as well as the Jazz- Werkstatt (Jazz Workshop) and the French Cultural Institute.

TEAM SUCCESS OUR CUSTOMERS ARE MULTI- 919 PEOPLE IN THE RAIFFEISEN- FACETED JUST LIKE LIFE. THEIR LANDESBANK STEIERMARK WORK NEEDS AND DESIRES CHANGE TOGETHER FOR YOU OVER TIME was a particularly challenging year for bank employees. For those of the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG, too. The world economic crisis led to a certain degree of uncertainty among many of our customers, with which our tellers were mainly confronted. Many questions were answered in a competent and friendly way and thus worries and fears were allayed in the end. This is also part of banking. To take the worries and concerns of Our human resources management makes sure that this is true in the future, too. In an increasingly competitive situation, our main focus is on finding highly qualified and talented people who have the potential to grow into the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG and its subsidiaries. Since the high personnel standards that we want to meet are to be guaranteed in the future. People with their qualifications, skills and experience as well as their commitment have 2009 ANNUAL REPORT 47 OUR JOB IS TO FIND THE BEST PRODUCT AT A TIME THAT IS CONVENIENT FOR THEM. Eva Pilger-Buchegger, Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark customers seriously, to deal with them and to not always been central to us. We do not leave our simply dismiss them. But you need the right people employees alone in their professional career. We to do this. And we have them. provide for sound training and further education. That is what makes an employer attractive. Human resources is a sector that is subject to a certain degree of fluctuation. As of 31 December 2009, there were 919 women and men employed in the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG and its subsidiaries (excluding the Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG). In 2009, there were 40 retirements, and 27 new colleagues joined our bank and thus strengthened our team.

FOR SOCIETY OUR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Banks are legal entities. But that doesn t mean they are allowed to be without conscience. Raiffeisen is the best example of this. There have been Raiffeisen banks in Styria since Originally founded as local emergency associations, since then we administer to the needs of all those who need help or support. This is called lived social responsibility. Raiffeisen supports many projects that benefit the general public. Since 2006, there has been the mobil und sicher (mobile and safe) program. This is where 14 to 15 year olds learn about the dangers of alcohol and drugs, about road safety and how to handle money sensibly. Not once, but again and again. Our program is held in a total of 30 schools a year. Together with our partners, the Regional School Board, the drug judge Helmut Wlasak, ARBÖ (Austrian Automobile Association), ÖAMTC (Austrian Automobile Association) and the Austrian Road Safety Board, we show where these dangers may be lurking and what happens if you disregard them is brought home to pupils. Another topic that we were really committed to in 2009 was climate protection. In February 2009, the Styrian Raiffeisen banks organised the 2 nd Energy Saving Day. The topic of saving energy then ran through a variety of events. In November 2009, Raiffeisen and the Economic Initiative Sustainability (WIN) entered into cooperation. Together we want to persuade companies to use energy in a more sensible and more frugal way. There are two ad vantages to this. On the one hand, companies make an active contribution to climate protection, and, on the other hand, savings in the energy sector result in competitive advantages for companies. In a total of twelve events, companies develop a taste for improving their energy efficiency. A glance at the facts and figures shows that we all have to do something for the climate. 88 million tons of CO 2 are released into the air in Austria every year. That is 241,000 tons a day or 10.6 tons per inhabitant. This means that we produce more than Germany, Great Britain and China. Raiffeisen Styria is helping to make it easier for all of us to breathe deeply again ANNUAL REPORT 51

CLOSE TO PEOPLE AND RAIFFEISEN BANKING WE ARE CURRENTLY MAKING ONE TOGETHER WITH THEM GROUP STYRIA OF THE BIGGEST INVESTMENTS IN FACTS AND FIGURES THE HISTORY OF OUR COMPANY. THAT IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO If you drive through Styria with your eyes open, you will see one sign again and again. The gable cross of Raiffeisen. From Bad Aussee to Bad Radkersburg and from Krakaudorf to Spital am Semmering it stands for closeness to customers, for seriousness and for security. There are 336 Raiffeisen bank branches in Styria more than any other bank. There is at least one Raiffeisen branch even there where there hasn t been a grocer, a priest, a court, a post office or a police station in a long time. Raiffeisen is there where the people of Styria live and where business takes place. Nobody knows the Styrian market better than we do, because we are there on-site. We make our decisions in the region and not in neighbouring countries or elsewhere. In Styria, where we are at home and where our customers are at home, too. Our customers are also our owners. Not nameless hedge funds or foreign investors, but Styrians. There are around 500,000 in our province alone. Thus, Raiffeisen can rightly be called a The Raiffeisen Banking Group Styria itself comprises 88 independent Raiffeisen banks and the Raiffeisen- Landesbank Steiermark AG, to whose group the Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG also belongs. Together we are the biggest banking group in southern Austria and are a large and important part of the Raiffeisen Banking Group in Austria. The Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG is the subsidiary of the local Styrian Raiffeisen banks and one of the parent companies of the Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG (Raiffeisen Central Bank of Austria). There, it has the second largest share of regional banks. But we are not homebodies either. Starting from Styria we accompany our customers throughout the world, since Styrian companies are active worldwide and thus we are too through them. And where our customers are active, there is usually a Raiffeisen bank nearby. For the Raiffeisen idea has travelled around the world in the truest sense of the word. In 2009, Raiffeisen was represented in 17 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and serviced 15 million 2009 ANNUAL REPORT Number of Raiffeisen banks Number of Raiffeisen bank branches (incl.
