Typical standard On graduating with an honours degree in general business and management, students will typically: have a wide knowledge and understanding of the broad range of areas of business and management and the detailed relationships between these, their application and their importance in an integrated framework consistently demonstrate a command of subject-specific skills including application of knowledge, as well as proficiency in intellectual skills have a view of business and management which is influenced by a variety of learning sources including guided learning, team work and independent study be distinguished from the threshold category by their enhanced capacity to develop and apply their own perspectives to their studies, to deal with uncertainty and complexity, to explore alternative solutions, to demonstrate critical evaluation and to integrate theory and practice in a wide range

Outcomes: Graduate Attributes Our graduates should: Be business minded, i.e. have strong commercial awareness, and the ability to consistently apply their knowledge and subject-specific and wider intellectual skills in a multi-tasking, fast paced environment. Be numerate, i.e. possess the numerical and analytical skills to setup benchmark processes and measure business performances. Be creative, i.e. be able to approach tasks from an analytical viewpoint and be able to interpret complex data sets, and therefore develop innovative business plans using creative thinking and judgment. Be people oriented, i.e. have strong interpersonal and organisational skills, and therefore be able to liaise with different types of people both within and external to organization. Be able to engage with all types of audiences, and build relations with customers. Be able work either individually or in a team, and be able to inspire and influence others. Be technologically capable; i.e. be able to apply information technology to work, enhancing efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy. 5 Assessment Methods Assessment Methods: The assessment methods are work related and emphasise the applications of knowledge, including a mixture of portfolio based reports, presentations, business simulation scenarios/reports, information technology software demonstrations, consultancy reports, dragons den type assessments involving local employers, seen/unseen examinations, and time constrained assignments.
