3 Terminology ICT based learning (= e-learning) generic expression for all learning based on information and communication technologies (ICT) on-line learning learning via the internet distance learning where the student is not physically present Blended learning (also: hybrid learning) Combining physical presence of student on campus with content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace (wikipedia) MOOCs Massive Open Online Courses variety of technologies and tools to support learning in different contexts 3
