13 MUST-DO S IN SEATTLE THE EXPERIENCE MUSIC PROJECT THE SEATTLE WATERFRONT WASHINGTON STATE FERRIES 325 5th Avenue N., Seattle, WA rd Avenue, Seattle, WA PIKES STREET MARKET 1st Avenue and Pike St., Seattle, WA EMP is located on the campus of Seattle Center, adjacent to the Space Needle and the Seattle Center Monorail, which runs through the building. The structure itself was designed by Frank Gehry. With spectacular views of Elliott Bay, Seattle Waterfront is one of Seattle s most unforgettable neighborhoods. Visitors can enjoy fresh Pacific Northwest seafood, eclectic souvenir and curio shops, scenic ferry rides, or a visit to the Seattle Aquarium. Or, take a walk along the piers and simply enjoy the view. Whatever you chose to do, do it with a view at the Seattle. The ferry system has its origins in the Mosquito Fleet, a collection of small steamer lines serving the Puget Sound area during the latter part of the nineteenth century and early part of the 20th century. By the beginning of the 1930s, two lines remained: the Puget Sound Navigation Company (known as the Black Ball Line) and the Kitsap County Transportation Company. A strike in 1935 forced the KCTC to close, leaving only the Black Ball Line. Today Washington State Ferries is a government agency that operates automobile and passenger ferry service in the U.S. state of Washington as part of the Washington State Department of Transportation. Pike Place Market is the city s center for fresh, local produce, specialty food and small independent businesses. Established in 1907 to connect citizens and farmers, the Market continues its Meet the Producer tradition with a year-round farmers market, owner-operated bakeries, fish markets, butcher shops, produce stands and specialty food stores. Laying claim as the city s first neighborhood, Pioneer Square is a richly historic place known for its Renaissance Revival architecture, First Thursday art walks, night life, delicious lunch spots, and quirky boutiques. The Seattle Aquarium is the ninth largest aquarium in the U.S. by attendance and among the top five paid visitor attractions in the Puget Sound region. 24 STATE BAR OF NEVADA 2015 ANNUAL MEETING 25
