1 Faculty / Staff Computer Recommendations FY October 14, 2014 Recommended Computer Systems for Faculty, Staff, and Lecturers Why Purchase an LSA IT Recommended System? The models listed below are the LSA IT preferred systems currently available through UM strategic suppliers. LSA IT has performed careful hardware and performance audits of each of the systems listed below to ensure compatibility with our existing deployment and support systems. As a result, purchasing an LSA IT recommended system: Guarantees a broad range of available hardware options and configurations. Minimizes support delays that can result when working with non-recommended systems. Reduces costs through University negotiated volume pricing. Maximizes warranty coverage with extended warranties available on all models. Gets the system into your hands faster with reduced lead times. Available in either desktop or mini-tower form, with dual core or quad core processors. Dual cores processors are adequate for most tasks, with the exception of video editing or 3D rendering. External connectivity includes USB 3 ports, Ethernet, and external display ports. The Elitebook 820 G1 is the smallest and lightest of these. It has a 12.5 display and weighs in at just 2.94 lb. The Probook 640 G1 and ProBook 650 G1 are full-sized, full-featured laptops with 14 or 15 displays, respectively (with integral burners). Docking stations and external monitors can be added to any of these models. Add the 120W docking station if you will be using dual external monitors.
