We set up the WEEE 2020 Raw Materials Partnership (RMP) under the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials We lodged a Raw Materials Commitment under the EIP The European Commission has officially recognised the WEEE 2020 commitment The commitment is not legally binding but its implementation will nevertheless be monitored 10

28 WEEELABEX standards Levelling the playing field Raising the bar LIFE07 ENV/B/ from 1 January 2009 until 31 December (50% EU cofinancing) Directive 2012/19/EU on WEEE (preamble) Any establishment or undertaking carrying out collection, recycling and treatment operations should comply with minimum standards to prevent negative environmental impacts associated with the treatment of WEEE. 32 Objectives Estimate the volumes of WEEE in Europe Analyse criminal behaviours associated with WEEE trade The aim of the CWIT project is, through intensive data collection, stakeholder involvement and an intelligencebased approach, to: Estimate the volumes of WEEE generated in Europe; Analyse the involvement of organised crime in the global distribution of e-waste; Develop a detailed understanding of the destinations and routes And to provide a set of recommendations to support lawmakers, law enforcement authorities, customs organisations, compliance schemes,
