2 Background National conference is an activity that should be performed by IAKMI committee in every 2 years. This conference attends by all IAKMI members and committee all over Indonesia. This year IAKMI will perform the 12th national conference on July 1st -3rd 2013 in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The theme of this conference is Politik Membangun Kesehatan Bangsa/the National Health Development Politics. The activity during the conference consists of; keynote speech usually for introducing a very urgent or specific issues that should be known by the member; paper presentation in panel and parallel session, poster presentation, round table and professional organization discussion session, award presentation, and training or workshop.

3 Background Indonesian Public Health Association (IAKMI) established in February 22nd 1971, is an independent and non-profit organization. IAKMI is an organization that works to strengthen the Indonesian health development through a collaboration activity with any organization and people who concern about Public Health issues, either in the government or nongovernment organization. The IAKMI organization structure consists of national, province and district committee. Since 1981 IAKMI became a member of the World Federation of Public Health Association (WFPHA) an international organization works in the area of public health that located in Washington DC, USA and, Geneva, Switzerland.

4 Background Within the conference will be arranged several meetings which related to the profession association/institution of IAKMI members such as; Indonesian Higher Education for Public Health Institution (AIPTKMI), Indonesian Epidemiology Specialist Organization (PAEI), National Epidemiology Network (JEN), Indonesian Health Promotion and Education (PPPKMI), Indonesian Nutritional Specialist Association (PERSAGI), Decentralization Forum, National AIDS Committee (KPAN), Environmental Health Specialist Association (EHSA), AIPMNH, BKKBN, PT. Askes, etc. The international organizations that participate in the conference are World Bank, USAID, AusAiD and UNFPA. Some International association and neighbour countries that concern on Public Health are also invited.

5 In this occasion the Indonesia One Health Network (INDOHUN) initiates to introduce the concept of One Health to IAKMI members through 3 activities, which were training on One Health Approach, plenary session and free paper on One Health.

6 This symposium was being a strategic issues and very beneficial for the Indonesian who concern in public health development. Through this symposium, the collaboration between government, academician, private and public sector as well as non-governmental organization could be alignment and a strategic networking throughout the Indonesian could be built in transferring and developing the one health concepts and approach. This symposium was consisted of two activities which are a one health pre-conference workshop carried out a day prior to the IAKMI National Conference, and the second one was the one health symposium that introduced not only one health concept and method but also introduced the Indonesia One Health University Network (INDOHUN).

7 The pre-conference workshop was conducted successfully with the keynote speaker expert from INDOHUN Members. The topics delivered were: One Health Paradigm and Challenges, One Health Concept in Surveillance system; Network Development to Strengthen One Health Concept and Program; Collaborative on Disease Prevention and Control at the Human- Animal-Ecosystem Interface; case study and group discussion; and ended with the workshop evaluation session. In group discussion session, the participants divided into 4 groups to discuss the local cases chosen during the discussion as a wicked problems among the group member. Each group presented their results to the whole participants to be discussed to strengthened the approach to solve the problem raised bya each group.
