5 American Cllege f Radilgy (ACR) has develped standards and recmmendatins fr digital radigraphy "Teleradilgy is nt apprpriate if the available teleradilgy system des nt prvide images f sufficient quality t perfrm the indicated task. When a teleradilgy system is used t prduce the fficial interpretatin there shuld nt be a clinically significant lss f spatial r cntrast reslutin frm image acquisitin thrugh transmissin t final image display."

6 PACS benefits: Immediate availability f duplicate riginal images - The system can immediately prduce an exact duplicate f the image withut lss f image definitin that results with film. Ability t adjust image cntrast and ther parameters - Image cntrast can be adjusted essentially eliminating the prblems f images being "t light" r "t dark." In additin, images can be magnified, rtated and flipped, measurements can be made and the images can be anntated as needed. Increased quality f patient care - The system autmatically enters patient demgraphic and exam specific data n every image, and allws instant access t specific images. The cmputerized recrds will be securely archived n a hspital server. Upn request, the patients' images can be cpied t a CD t give t their PCP.

7 Imprved cmmunicatin - "One significant advantage is the PACS allws radilgists t type in shrt reprts that are stred digitally and will stay with the images," said Rbert Psterar, M.D, radilgist n staff at Cvenant. "This will certainly imprve cmmunicatin between physicians, which can lead t better care fr ur patients." Cmplete image management - Radilgy staff will n lnger be cncerned with tracking dwn files and travelling t multiple strage areas t retrieve ld films.
