13 EVANSTON CHILD CARE EARLY AND CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS CHILD CARE AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS CNE is the most comprehensive community resource for building strong foundations for young children through access to high quality early education and family support. ADDRESS 1335 Dodge Avenue, Evanston Website PHONE (847) Fax (847) CNE EARLY HEAD START provides comprehensive services to families with infants and toddlers (birth to 3) and eligible pregnant women. Program options include home visiting, family child care in homes, and center-based child care. Families must qualify for a child care subsidy to be enrolled in family child care or center-based program. ADDRESS 1335 Dodge Avenue, Evanston Website CONTACT EHS Enrollment Specialist PHONE (847) Fax (847) cne@childcarenetworkofevanston.org ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION PRE-SCHOOL FOR ALL supports children who are at risk for school success. Risk factors may include but are not limited to: low income; English is not home language; chronic health problems; difficulties with social interactions; vision, hearing, or communication difficulties; or a child with special needs. For families who need full day programming, they must either be eligible for a child care subsidy or scholarship to pay for the balance of the day. LEARNING TOGETHER provides on-site services for children with special needs at child care programs. Services include Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Mental Health services. Most services are provided in small groups that include a classroom teacher. Children get the services they need and teachers learn new ways to help all the children in their care. Teachers and parents gain knowledge and effective teaching strategies from the therapists leading the program. ADDITIONAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) State certificates provide low-income, working families with access to quality, affordable child care, which allows the parents to continue working and contributes to the consistency and success of each child s early education. Families are required to cost-share on a sliding scale based on family size, income and number of children in care. Communitywide Scholarships support Evanston families whose income is over the state subsidy eligibility guidelines. The scholarship funds not only provide intermediate support between the subsidy and the high cost of quality care, but these also funds allow children to maintain consistency of care and early education in quality early childhood programs. Without these funds, many families would not have access to these programs. STRENGTHENING FAMILIES ILLINOIS educates early childhood center staff, parents, child welfare agencies, and other community members with the goal of building protective factors against child abuse and neglect to keep our children safe and to build strong families. MALE INVOLVEMENT GROUP is offered by CNE Early Head Start for active male role models of EHS children. An active male role model may include a child s father, uncle or a non-relative that is a positive influence in the child s life. EHS recognizes that mothers and fathers, as well as active involved males play an essential role in the healthy development of each child. CNE thanks the Evanston early childhood programs listed who supported the publication of A Guide to Early Childhood Resources in Evanston. Special thanks to Maria Ballantyne, Marketing and Public Relations Consultant and Patty Stevenson of Propel Graphic Design. EVANSTON ADDITIONAL EARLY SUPPORTIVE CHILDHOOD SERVICES PROGRAMS 24 25
