I would love to be able to bring my plan book with all my different lessons and go over it with someone very experienced in differentiation and have them suggest ways to better differentiate lessons. Someone should encourage high school teachers to obtain master's degrees in their academic disciplines; too many are lacking content knowledge. Page 7 of 10
8 I have enjoyed all the workshops that I have attended thus far. I enjoy collaborating with other teachers from other districts. There is a complete lack of graduate level courses for art teachers. It is important for us to stay current too in our area of expertise, not just in education based classes that do not always relate to what we do on a daily basis. We are forced to take these irrelevant classes if we want to earn credits, and oftentimes the teachers don't even know what to do with us. I would like my experiences to be more than me putting in the time, I'd like to learn and take my experiences back to my classroom. I already have two Masters Degrees in Special Ed, just looking to advance skills for students. I know that a number of universities offer programs out of the Grayslake campus as a satellite campus. I would like to know what universities are offering what programs at the Grayslake campus. We, my fellow educators and I would like to see the state of Illinois get their act together when it comes to requirements for teacher certification. The state of Illinois has far too many unrealistic expectations for a system that it cannot facilitate. Let s be real. CPDU s are busy work that just takes time away from what teachers are supposed to do, teach. Also, it is the year You would think at this time our system could be automated. It took way too long to get the ECS to where it is now. Teachers have way too many fights to fight at this point, support the teachers do not punish them. Sorry, had to get this frustration out I would like to see more doctoral programs for administration. If you were to hold courses throughout Lake County, then teachers who live in the neighboring counties may be more willing to check out the offered courses. School Law & School Code updates Research-based- Behavioral approaches for counselors, psychologists for RTI level II (No check-in check out ) for academic and behavior issues... Real Therapy - application in schools I earned a MA in special education taking classes at the U. Center and it was wonderful! Page 8 of 10
9 ART/ ART THERAPY Elementary math -middle school- There seems to be a shortage of opportunities that relate to special education. In particular I am trying to fulfill my 20% of CPDU's in special education that are required for re-certification. It seems as if there are very few classes/seminars that are available. It is so much easier and effective to have site-based classes (held in district). I am particularly interested in STEM programs The emotionally disturbed and autistic populations are exploding. More programs need to address the ed psych components of the classroom. Is this the same Dr. Lynn Reynolds that taught Special Ed at Northeastern? Speech Pathology Masters degree program is needed in this area. There are several SLP Para that this would benefit. Autism, Communication (Speech Pathology), Syndromes, Visual Supports Brain Research -- Mel Levine DISTRICT 116 WOULD GREATLY FENEFIT IFHAD BILIGUAL-SPANISH RESOURCE TEACHERS AND SPECIAL SERVICE PROFESSIONALS. I am currently enrolled in a graduate program that meets at the University Center in Grayslake, and I think that the center is a great place to meet for classes, and everyone who works there has always been very helpful. The classrooms are state of the art and very comfortable as well. I am glad to see that I can further my career as a teacher at a location that is close to home, as well as one that offers a wealth of opportunities with different colleges and universities. I will definitely take classes here again, and I have recommended the University Center to several colleagues. Short form LBS1 with no Degree attached. I am already Ed. D., and Superintendent endorsed. Page 9 of 10
10 Interested in college classes to obtain just ESL endorsement, How to obtain a Spanish, reading Endorsement, It will be easier if Professional Developments offered Graduate Credits. How to deal with difficult co-workers to make yourself more successful in the classroom! Extremely interested in a Masters of Speech and Language Pathology Adapted physical education GRADUATE SPEECH/LANGUAGE PROGRAM Please consider a masters program for speech pathology. There is no program available in Lake county and there is a great need. We need opportunities to complete a Master's program in Speech / Language Pathology on a partime basis. There is a need for a Masters Level Speech Language Pathology Degree in Lake County. If you offer it, you will have no problem filling the spaces. Contact Nova Southeast University in Fort Lauderdale to see how I know that this is a very specific interest and not many people would be interested, but I would love to see a graduate history program in Lake County. As a paraprofessional, I would like to see "team building" among teachers and paras as well as other special education and regular education staff members. Also degree completion courses for those of us with an Associate s Degree. Page 10 of 10
