1 MAKING AN APPLICATION TO GUILDHALL You can apply directly to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama using our dedicated online application system. The Guildhall School offers programmes in music, acting, technical theatre and creative learning, and at the moment UCAS and UCAS Conservatoires (formerly known as CUKAS) are not suitable for applications in all these areas. We want to ensure we offer all of our applicants the same high-quality admissions experience, so we offer our own bespoke application process, which means you benefit from dealing with our admissions team directly. HOW TO APPLY 1. Find application page Apply directly through our website: There is an apply button on the top red banner which will take you straight to the application page. Click on Apply Online to the Guildhall School.

2 2. Select course Firstly, you will need to select your chosen course from the drop-down menu Choose BA Performance and Creative Enterprise from the course drop down menu. 3. Register as a New User To register as a new user, you will need to supply personal details such as your name, date of birth, address and . You will need to create a username and password for your account. Tip: Make sure you make a note of your username and password and keep it in a safe place. Tip: If your home address (where you live) and your correspondence address (where you would like post sent) are the same, you can click on the Copy Home to Contact button. This will save you from having to fill your address in twice. Once you have completed this section, you will also be asked to supply the answer to a security question (in case you forgot your log-in details). The security question is Please enter your mother s maiden name

3 The answer you type will be case-sensitive. 4. Upload a photo In this section you can upload a photograph from your computer. It should be a portrait of your head and shoulders and the file format should be a jpg (maximum size 1 MB). You don t have to upload a photo though, this is optional. 5. Fill in your application form At the top of the application page there are a number of tabs that you can use to navigate around the application. 4 At the end of each page you will be given a box to check if you have completed everything in that section. If you haven t, you can: Save & Proceed if you want to Save and Return Later if you want to Save the information continue with the rest of the close your application for now and log on the page application form and come back to back in later this section later Tip: Please ensure you save your application regularly as it will time out after one hour. 6. Application tabs Personal Information The first page of the application form will ask you for personal and equality information, e.g. your emergency contact details and whether you have a disability that you would like to declare If you re not working or in employment, there is an option for unemployed Do you have any unspent criminal convictions? This depends on the length of sentence and the amount of time since the conviction Have you recently left care? This will allow you to access more support if you were to study at Guildhall Residency Here we ask you to confirm your nationality and the country where you are normally resident (most likely the UK). If you have a National Insurance Number, you will be asked to confirm it here.

5 Additional Information Have you had some experience of the Guildhall, such as a Creative Learning project like Barbican Young Poets? Have you applied to any other institutions this year? Please let us know if there are any dates where you will not be available for an audition English Language If English is your first language you can tick a box to confirm this. If you do not speak English as a first language, you can let us know about your reading and writing English language skills in this section. Places of Education Tell us where you last went to school in the Further Education section. If you have been to college after leaving school, please list this as your Last School. Tip: Start filling in the name of your school, a list will be generated for you to choose from

6 Qualifications These are divided into different sections: GCSEs School and Further Education (e.g. A Levels or BTECs) Higher Education (e.g. Degrees) You only need to fill in the sections if you have a qualification from that level. You will be asked to include the grade and when you received these qualifications: Add or remove qualification records using these buttons Add or remove qualification records using these buttons If you don t know the exact date of your exam, just put the 1 st of the month that you completed your exams Tip: If you cannot find your qualification from the drop down menu, you can add it to the free text box under Other qualification : References You will need to supply us with the names of two people who we can ask to recommend you for the programme. This could be a teacher or a member of staff from an arts or community organisation. Please let your referee know that you are nominating them before you give us their contact details. We will normally only request references after auditions have taken place. Read more information about our referencing requirements on our website

7 Work and Performance Experience This is your chance to write down any relevant experience that you have for the programme. This could be music, theatre or spoken word performances, making or collaborating on new work or socially engaged community work. You should also add paid work or volunteer work that is not directly related to your programme. Tell us about a role you ve had in a performance or in creating a new piece of work Who organised the performance? E.g. your school / local theatre Add more work/performance experiences using this button Tell us what about you did, including what responsibilities you took on Personal Statement Tell us about yourself! There are no requirements for the personal statement but it is helpful if you tell us why you want to apply for the BA PACE programme, details of past experience, your hobbies and interests, your future plans and aspirations, and why you think you are a good candidate for the programme. Wherever possible, include links to performance of creative work that you have completed. This could be links to websites such as Youtube or Vimeo, a blog or social media account that you have made. You can use a maximum of 4000 characters in your personal statement. Tip: Write your statement in a Word document first, then copy and paste it in to your application. This way you can take your time and check through it carefully before submitting. Please be sure to include any links you may have, showing some of your work, e.g. YouTube, SoundCloud, Vimeo, Dropbox etc. This could be video or audio, or pdfs etc.

8 Print Application At any time, you can print a copy of your application to keep for your own records. 7. Confirm and Submit Once you have completed all of the sections in the application form, you will be asked to pay the application fee (the 2016/17 BA PACE application fee is 63). This fee covers the cost of processing applications and running the auditions. The cost of the application will be confirmed at the top of the page. Submit and pay. This will take you to an online payment page

9 8. Application Fee Waivers You may be eligible for an application fee waiver, which means that you can submit your application at no cost. If you have applied an application fee waiver, please wait until you have received confirmation from the Guildhall School that you have been granted a waiver before submitting your application. You should not submit and pay for your application before you hear from us. After your application fee waiver has been processed, you will receive an with a link to log back into your application: If you have been granted a fee waiver, it should be confirmed here. Auditions You will next hear from Drama department with details of your audition. Although PACE is for musicians, poets and theatre makers, the administration side is done by the Drama dept. This does not reflect any particular emphasis or bias in the course, it s purely for organisational reasons.
