Flagger Training & Certification Class Training With increasing population density and a higher number of drivers on the road, cities and counties have begun demanding more from private contractors in the way of temporary tra c control. TMI is here to help. TMI offers various training classes that exceed osha and other jurisdiction requirements. Web Based Training At Traffic Management we understand that breaking away from your busy schedule for a training class can be difficult. Bearing this in mind we have developed a web based training and certification course. Utilizing multimedia formats from instructor narration to animations our, online training program is both educational and easy to use. We offer training in flagging, basic tra c control setups and complex tra c control setups. Classes can be arranged at your job site, or if you prefer, in a classroom setting at one of our facilities. Your location or ours? Classes are held regularly at our various facilities. Flagger Training & Certification Flagger Training Courses Supplemental Courses The following courses require successful completion of both Flagger Certification and Lane Closure courses. 1. Flagger Certification Introduction to Traffic Control This section lays the foundation for an education in tra c management. Students learn the fundamentals of temporary and permanent tra c control. Safety on the street is stressed and explored in full detail. Flagging Moving beyond the basics, this instruction presents the techniques and process for setting up a flagging operation. Students learn the specifics regarding the setup of equipment, the proper signaling techniques and flagger safety. 2. Lane Closure Single Lane Closure The process for safe execution of a single lane closure is covered in this section. Advanced techniques of taper lengths, cone spacing and placement of signs are explained in detail, preparing students for a typical day in the field. Multiple Lane Closure This section expands on single lane closures to cover situations where more than one lane of travel must be closed to accommodate the work area. More advanced situations are covered, including the use of multiple FAS, shifting traffic over the center line of the roadway and shifting traffic to the opposite side of a raised median. 1. Freeway Traffic control on freeways must follow the same guidelines and regulations as covered in the previous courses, but the increase in both traffic speed and volume requires extra care to provide safety for motorists and traffic controllers. Topics include dealing with high-speed situations, pre-job planning, situational awareness and special equipment needs. 2. Advanced For jobs that go beyond the typical single-day setups with channelizers and barricades, this course provides an in-depth look at complicated and long-term projects. Issues ranging from street re-striping (in either paint or temporary tape), k-rail (concrete and water-filled, crash attenuators and long-term sign installations are covered. 3. Inspection This course covers traffic control and flagger issues from the perspective of a job site foreman or Public Works inspector. Issues covered include types of construction activities found in the street, inspecting traffic control setups for compliance and accuracy, traffic plans, permits, liability and record keeping. Full Road Closure Use the skills learned from single and multiple lane closures to completely close a roadway to vehicular traffic flow. Topics include lane closures approaching closure points, maintaining access to local traffic and detours for diverted drivers cmanagement.com
