Ms. Anita Pecrelli, resident f Hazlet, NJ, Red Bank Middle Schl teacher; read a statement in supprt f Mr. Wilkins. Mr. Jhn Tyler, 69 Leightn Avenue, Red Bank, NJ; spke in supprt f Mr. Wilkins and indicated the actins have nthing t d with the schls but with Mr. Wilkins private life; and he hpes that peple think abut the gd things that Mr. Wilkins has dne. Mr. David Prwn, Red Bank resident, eched the sentiments f the previus tw speakers; believes Mr. Wilkins is a tp shelf individual. He hpes t see him back at the schl. Mr. Prwn expressed his wish that althugh executive sessin is private that the prcess was transparent. Ms. Ann Ciabattni, Peters Place, Red Bank, NJ; expressed supprt f Mr. Wilkins. She was delighted t have him at the Middle Schl and hpes he will be judged by evidence.
2 RED BANK BOROUGH Ms. Gina Reid, resident f Red Bank, NJ; expressed her desire t give Mr. Wilkins the pprtunity t return t the Middle Schl. States the children miss him and d nt understand why he is n lnger there. She stated that the children lked t him as mre than a principal. Ms. Mena Prwn, 44 Hillside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ; stated that althugh she did nt knw him well she felt he was kind and cl and des nt believe we shuld judge him. She hpes the bard is ding the right thing. Ms. Kim Patrick, Suth Pearl Street, Red Bank, NJ; stated she agreed with everyne. Mr. Wilkins has been a gd rle mdel and can tell that he cares. Rnald Smith, Red Bank Middle Schl student, stated he wished t speak n Mr. Wilkins behalf. He explained that Mr. Wilkins was a psitive influence. Dminique Martin, Red Bank Middle Schl student, stated she feels that Mr. Wilkins was a gd persn and helped her with prblems. HEARING OF PUBLIC: N further cmments. The Bard f Educatin f the Brugh f Red Bank, in the Cunty f Mnmuth ( Bard f Educatin ) is hlding a Special Meeting this evening pursuant t written ntice duly published and circulated in accrdance with the Open Public Meetings Law. B. The purpse f this Special Meeting was t initially g int clsed sessin t discuss a persnnel actin i.e. the suspensin and resignatin f Mr. Terence Wilkins ( Mr. Wilkins ) and then t return t pen sessin and pssibly take actin n these items. C. Mr. Wilkins has been given a RICE Ntice f this meeting and he has advised that he des nt wish t have the clsed sessin cnducted in public and it is nt his intentin t attend the meeting. D. The Bard f Educatin has learned that Mr. Wilkins was indicted and charged with arsn and insurance fraud in June f Neither the Department f Educatin nr Mr. Wilkins advised the schl district f his indictment. E. Mr. Wilkins was again indicted in April f 2008 and the Bard f Educatin was advised f this fact initially thrugh a newspaper reprter. In cnsultatin with Mr. Wilkins individual attrney and the attrney fr the New Jersey Principals and Supervisrs Assciatin, it was cnfirmed that Mr. Wilkins had riginally been indicted last year and was again indicted in April f this year.
3 RED BANK BOROUGH F. On April 29, 2008, Laura C. Mrana, Superintendent f Schls, frwarded a letter t Mr. Wilkins advising him that with the cnsent f the President f the Bard f Educatin, he was suspended frm his duties effective that date. G. By letter dated May 1, 2008, Mr. Wilkins irrevcably resigned frm his psitin as Middle Schl Principal and all ther tenured and nn-tenured psitins in the schls perated by the Bard f Educatin effective June 30, 2008, and agreed he wuld nt be entitled t any additinal payment fr unused sick, vacatin r persnal days. The Bard f Educatin agreed t pay Mr. Wilkins his regular rate f pay thrugh June 30, 2008, and t cntinue his family health care benefits. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as fllws: 1. Mr. Wilkins irrevcable resignatin as principal in the Red Bank Middle Schl and all ther tenured and nntenured psitins in the schls perated by the Bard f Educatin f the Brugh f Red Bank, in the Cunty f Mnmuth effective June 30, 2008, is hereby accepted effective this date. 2. Mr. Wilkins will nt be paid fr any unused sick, vacatin days r persnal days. 3. Mr. Wilkins will receive his current salary thrugh June 30, 2008, and his present family health care benefits thrugh the same date. 4. HEARING OF THE PUBLIC Mr. Jhn Tyler, 69 Leightn Avenue, Red Bank, NJ; had a questin abut the terms f Mr. Wilkins resignatin in relatin t his salary and benefits and cncerns that his salary and benefits end June 30, Mr. Richard McOmber, District Attrney, explained that Mr. Wilkins resigned effective June 30, He is being represented by his criminal attrney and the New Jersey Principals State Assciatin attrneys. His decisin was made with their advice. A request was made frm the Bard fr Mr. McOmber t please explain the distinctin between schl law versus criminal law. Mr. McOmber explained the Bard has different rights and where they d nt need t act n the issue with Mr. Wilkins, he has resigned with the advice f his tw attrneys. Mrs. Krishna Tyler, 69 Leightn Avenue, Red Bank, NJ; expressed cncerns that sme students may need cunseling. Mrs. Mrana explained that she met with staff and students and all will have the pprtunity t speak f the matter thrugh the schl cunselrs. Mr. Prwn stated he wuld like t dvetail n a previus cmment indicating that Red Bank Reginal schl district can assist. Mrs. Tyler expressed the students need t be tld what happened. Ms. Lily Prwn, student, stated that the students need t get the crrect infrmatin abut the situatin. Mr. and Mrs. Tyler bth suggested that students be allwed t meet in grups t discuss the issue. Ms. Gina Reid expressed cncern that teachers are nt allwed t speak with anyne abut the incident. Mrs. Mrana stated she des nt knw where that came frm. Ms. Reid felt testing shuld have been set aside due t the incident. Hearing n mre cmments, the Bard thanked everyne fr cming and fr their cmments and supprt.
