1 1 TF Sport and Exercise Psychology Fifth Meeting and General Assembly May Lisbon 11.00am/3.00pm Portuguese Professional Association of Psychologists Head Office Minutes 1. Opening, welcome and introduction Michel Nicolas (Convenor) opened the meeting and welcomed the participants. At the beginning of the 5 th meeting of the Task Force Sport Psychology, Pedro Almeida was thanked for its invitation and organisation. The agenda was presented with a powerpoint presentation and was opened to suggestions from all members and participants. Then, the new list of members was presented with currently 20 members and 15 active members from 17 countries. The following members were present: Zrinka Greblo (Croatia), Satu Kaski (Finland), Pedro Almeida (Portugal), Christopher Willis (Austria), Enrique Canton (Spain), Marco Guicciardi (Italia), Henning Plessner (Germany), and Michel Nicolas (France). Agenda included the following main points: 1. EFPA congres Milan 2. Report of the TF 3. mini-website 4. Proposal for a new TF Name 5. The Document on the situation of sport psychology in Europe 6. Proposal for the Criteria for the Europsy certification in sport 7. Next meeting

2 2 Given that Christopher had to leave at 1.00, the order of the agenda was modified to discuss directly of the key points: the document and the Europsy certification in sport. 2. Document on the Situation of Sport and Exercise Psychology in Europe The goal of this document is to 1. Collect information on the education, training, supervision, professional practice and organizations in sport psychology in Europe; 2. Suggest improvements in the education and training of sport psychologists; 3. Propose criteria for a Europsy certification in sport and exercise psychology. According to the template and guidelines sent to all the members, the documents of each member (a draft of few pages 3-5) were collected. We have decided to gather all the documents with the secretaries before the end of the year in order to propose a draft and discuss it during our next meeting. Here are the previous points discussed during the preceding meeting in Vienna. The TF agreed on the following points: There should be focus on the psychologists specialized in sport field (discuss on the mainstream psychology only if related to sport psychology). The specificities of the psychologists compared to the other practitioners in sport settings (mental coach) should be mentioned. The criteria of Europsy for the suggestions to improve the education and training of psychologist exercising in sport field should be followed. Thus, the main chapter will examine:

Suggestions of criteria for a Europsy certification in Sport and Exercise Psychology This last chapter concerning suggestions of criteria is one of the most important and has to be developed. After a presentation of Christopher Willis and the documents sent by Enrique Canton, a long discussion about the criteria followed. Suggestions were determined as the basis for a proposal. This discussion will be summarized by Christopher Willis and will serve as a guideline and a basis for the specialist certificate Europsy in Sport Psychology. 3. Relationships with FEPSAC Meetings are planned during the FEPSAC congress in Bern and during the EFPA congress in Milan to discuss about exchanges and collaborations about education and other topics. 4. EFPA Congress Milan The symposium of the sport TF was accepted for the next EFPA Congress in Milan. The symposium was briefly presented to all the members. We agreed that the multiplicity of the interventions that a psychologist can perform in sport was well represented by the different presentations which also involved a better knowledge of each other. A meeting of the TF will be organised at the end of the symposium to discuss about the tasks in process. 5. Report of the TF

4 4 The report of the TF for the two last years will be sent to the members before submitting it to EFPA. It was delayed because the convenor was waiting the first annual meeting. 6. Mini-website An will be sent to Evangelia Kontogianni in charge of the communication to confirm if the website of the TF is updated. 7. Propose Name for the TF The assembly have decided by vote to change the name of the Task Force to Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology in order to take into account not only sport competition and elite athletes but also exercise and physical activities and its effects on psychological well-being. In addition, adding performance will broad the domain of activity and open to other population and professions that demand excellence in psychomotor performance (i.e., performing arts, surgery, firefighting, law enforcement, military operations, extreme situations (e.g., space, polar, high altitude) etc.). The decision was voted at the unanimity and will be submitted to the board of EFPA in Milan for the validation. 8. Place and calendar of meetings in 2014 During the meeting, members of the Task Force discussed the potential places and dates for the upcoming meetings, in accordance with the working plan and deadlines of tasks for the team. Given the important tasks, it was decided to organize 2 other meetings for In July, during the 14 th ECP congress in Milan after our symposium. 2. In the end of October or the beginning of November, because few members will attend to the congress in Milan, a second meeting was decided. The goal is to work on the document and the proposal for a certification in sport psychology to EFPA board. Pedro Almeida with the Portuguese sport TF kindly offered

5 5 to welcome us in the offices of the Portuguese Professional Association of Psychologists in Lisbon. Our next GA will be organized during one of these two meetings according to the number of present members. The meeting in 2016 is opened to suggestions.
