The District's Information Technology Division (ITD) has 700+ staff members, including programmers, network engineers, and administrative staff - all of whom provide support to the Schools and most District offices in a professional, forward thinking, and challenging environment. Technologies supported range from personal systems to enterprise-wide systems and applications. The IT Division's offices are located at the District Headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. Working with the IT Division in the second largest school District in the nation will allow you opportunities to provide technology needs to approximately 95,000 employees, 600,00 students, and 1 million parents with an approximate 12 billion dollar annual budget. The IT Division uses cutting edge technology to provide over 1 million transactions for URL filtering and student safety, provide security service for over 100,000 laptops and tablets, and repair and troubleshoot over 50,000 help desk tickets per year. LAUSD s IT Division has over 100,000 access points and 40,000 appliances. Our Enterprise Applications Division supports over 300 systems (both hardware and software) utilizing SAP,.NET, SQL, Cisco, Aruba, and custom applications based on business user requests and needs.

Special: Certification in computer- and/or network-based systems such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is preferable. Desirable Qualifications Operating Systems Specialist bachelor s degree, preferably with a major in computer science, information systems, telecommunications, data processing, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering. Graduate level courses in engineering,computer science, and operations research are preferable. Qualifying experience in addition to that required below may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education provided that the requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent is met. Experience: Three years of experience in the applicable specialty described below.database Specialist.Experience in the maintenance, modification, and improvement of relational database management systems that includes access methods and definition languages. Experience with physical and logical database design, data security, development of plans for the conversion of existing systems to database systems, data inquiry and

8 updating, and optimum processing techniques also is required. Two years of this experience must have included using Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, or CICS.Operating Systems Specialist Experience in the installation, maintenance, and modification of Linux and Microsoft operating system software. Two years of this experience must have been as an operating systems professional with major responsibility in a large computerized installation including professional level experience with Linux (Red Hat or SUSE) or Microsoft is required. At least three years of experience with systems generation, SAN storage systems, enterprise backup/restore systems, dynamic storage and partition allocation processes, and dump analysis is also preferable (this experience may be concurrent). Any of the above mentioned experience must also include at least two years of performance measurement and systems monitoring techniques, and development of long-range plans for transition to new operating systems. Systems Science Specialist Experience in developmental work for large scale application systems and use of various computational algorithms and mathematical modeling to address complex systems questions. In addition, the experience must have included responsibility for developing detailed systems plans, including responsibility for sizing and proposing hardware systems, cost effectiveness studies, utilization of operations research and economics techniques, software package evaluations, teleprocessing studies, and data security studies Special: A valid California Driver License. Use of an automobile Programmer Analyst, Java: bachelor s degree in computer information systems, computer science, or a closely related field, and two years of programming experience in a web based environment with extensive experience in software development,programming, and systems analysis and design for business applications utilizing Java EE architecture. A Masters degree in Computer Science or closely related field may substitute for two years of the experience requirement. OR Completion of a 30-semester unit certificate program or equivalent in computer information systems, computer science, or a closely related field, and five years of experience in a web based environment with extensive experience in software development, programming, and systems analysis and design for business applications utilizing Java EE architecture. Experience: Two years of experience as an LAUSD Assistant Programmer Analyst programming in a Javabased environment utilizing
