4 What'sNew inmaps 4.4? Evisions is pleased to announce the release of MAPS version 4.4, which contains the following new features and changes: The MAPS elauncher is now hosted on Evisions' servers. This Content Delivery Network (CDN) allows us to deploy updates to the launch page without requiring an update to MAPS. MAPS contains local copies of the files to ensure continuous access in the event of a network outage. MAPS administrators can also specify whether MAPS should use the CDN or the local version. Removed the optional widgets from the elauncher in order to streamline the page and focus on providing software content. Logging in to the MAPS application clients should be slightly faster now, providing performance gains in environments with large numbers of users. Added support for PROT P encryption (private data channel encryption) when sending files via FTPS. More detailed information is contained in this guide and in the MAPS in-product Help. MAPS Updates MAPS 4.4 is an update to the MAPS service and the MAPS Configuration tool. You should upgrade both components to the latest version concurrently. Product versions The latest version of MAPS included in this release is: MAPS Service / Configuration Tool / elauncher Installation 1. Prepare test environment and ensure current backup We highly recommend installing updates in a test environment before applying them to your production environment. You should make sure that a current backup is available in case of any unforeseen issues. 2. Check for updates It is possible to apply updates when users are on the system; however, to avoid the possibility of losing unsaved work we recommend applying updates during off hours. To install MAPS 4.4, click the Check for Updates button in the MAPS Configuration tool to view available updates. Note: If you are not already running MAPS 4.x, please refer to the MAPS 4.0 Upgrade Guide for additional upgrade information. 3. Allow update process to complete When applying updates to the MAPS service you will be temporarily disconnected from the server. Do not manually restart the server during this process, as you will be reconnected automatically when the update has been applied. Verify the latest version is installed To ensure that you are on the most current version, continue clicking the Check for Updates button and applying the updates until no new updates are available. 6 ContentDelivery Network(CDN) The web files for the elauncher and Argos Web Viewer are now loaded on demand from Evisions servers. This allows us to deploy updates to the product launch page and Argos Web Viewer without requiring you to update the MAPS service or the Argos mapplet. Evisions uses a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to host the pages. The Content Delivery Network (CDN) URL field on the HTTP File Server screen contains the location where MAPS looks for the CDN: The default URL points to the hosted content on Evisions servers, located at Altering this URL will cause MAPS to look in a different location for the elauncher and Web Viewer files and should only be done when working with an Evisions tech to resolve a support issue. If you do not wish to use the hosted files, you can continue to use the local versions included in the MAPS service and Argos mapplet by blanking out the CDN URL field (remove the URL entirely). In this case, you will need to wait for new releases of MAPS and Argos before you can get the latest updates to the elauncher or Web Viewer. When the CDN is enabled, if a user cannot access the CDN resources for some reason, MAPS serves up the local versions of the launch page and Web Viewer. This ensures seamless access in the event of a network outage or other issue that interferes with accessing the hosted content. You can check the version number at the bottom of the elauncher or in the Help -> About in the Web Viewer to see which version of the software you are currently running, in case the local and hosted versions are different. Note: In order to retrieve content from the CDN, end users must be able to access the CDN URL over the internet. If users are unable to access this location, MAPS will load the local version of the elauncher and Argos Web Viewer. MAPS 4.4 Release Guide Page 6 of 9

When renaming an server in MAPS, any Argos schedules using that server will now automatically update to use the new name. Added a new table to the Argos database called XRef_ Server to facilitate this change. Added support for PROT P encryption (private data channel encryption) when sending files via FTPS. When an error occurs while executing a very large SQL statement, MAPS now truncates the SQL included in the error message in the log file to 10k characters to reduce the size of the logs and increase readability. Logging in to the MAPS application clients should be slightly faster now, providing performance gains in environments with large numbers of users. When MAPS is set to periodically check for updates, instead of checking every six hours it now checks for updates three hours after the service starts, and every six hours after that. The server can no longer check for updates during backups or shut-down, which would occasionally cause errors in the logs or prevent the service from restarting. Added a field to the HTTP File Server screen that specifies the web address for hosted content. Added the ability to sort the Users screen on any field. Right-click in the column header to see additional field options (Notes, Start Date, Stop Date, CAS Id, Created By, Created Date, Modified By, and Modified Date). Added slide-in save/undo buttons to several screens in the Configuration tool to prevent MAPS administrators from making unintended changes. Removed the optional widgets from the elauncher in order to streamline the page and focus on providing software content. Also removed corresponding widget settings from the Configuration tool. Removed the ability to link a MAPS account with an Evisions HelpDesk account via the elauncher, since this was only used by the widgets that have been removed. 8 Resolved Issues ADO connections Authentication Authentication Permissions Stability Stability Stability elauncher Area Description Issue number Copying an ADO connection that has one or more queuing rules results in the error "XML node 'Start' is missing". When logging in as an LDAP user who is part of an LDAP group in MAPS but not added as an individual LDAP user, MAPS creates multiple resource users if the user logs in by typing their username with different capitalization than they used previously. This can cause problems with scheduled Argos reports if the user changes their password, because the changes do not propagate to the duplicate usernames, which may be used to run the reports. Removed minimum length checks for passwords when logging in to the elauncher and Web Viewer, since there is no way to update the password from the login screen. Password requirements are enforced when changing the password, making the login check unnecessary. This resolves an issue where users whose passwords do not meet MAPS requirements are unable to either log in or to change their passwords. The account administration area of IntelleCheck displays printers that have not been authorized for use with IntelleCheck in MAPS. MAPS sometimes does not restart after the nightly backup, with the error " (ETimeOut) Timeout waiting for write lock" appearing in the logs. Fixed an issue with multithreading that may have caused MAPS or the MAPS applications to crash. When under heavy load, MAPS may terminate abnormally due to synchronization issues when accessing the auditing database.
