1 E-Newsletter Foundation News 2nd Round CLASS- ROOM GRANTS The CB Community Education Foundation is proud to announce the award of a Special 2nd Round of Classroom Grant Awards totaling $44, This round really was special. This is first year the Foundation was able to offer two rounds of Classroom Grants opportunities to the Council Bluffs Community School District in the same school year. In this round, the school district was given the choice to submit a classroom grant by school building or by individual teachers to enhance the educational experience in the class room. IN OTHER NEWS: New additions to the Foundation: Greg I. Smith, program director for our KIDS & CO, and Brenda J. Moran, program director for our STAR s Scholarship Program. As the executive director for the CB Community Education Foundation, I am very pleased and excited to welcome these two quality individuals to the Foundation family. Both Greg and Brenda will build on the past success of their programs and take them to the next level. I am delighted we have added these two talented, qualified and experienced individuals to the foundation. SCHOLARSHIPS 2014 The Foundation is pleased to announce we will make $60, available for scholarships to graduating Council Bluffs high school seniors, for the school year from the variety of scholarships we administer. Greg holds a bachelor of science degree in physical education recreation & health (K-12) from South Dakota State University. He has worked for the Child Respite Care Center, Westside Early Childhood Centers and Papillion-LaVista School Foundation. Greg comes to us with 16 years of professional working experience in education as a classroom teacher, & in the before and after school field as a program administrator, as well as a before and after school site director.

Moran, Ph.D., as the new STARS Scholarship program director. Brenda holds a doctorate in human services from the University Nebraska Lincoln & a bachelor of arts degree in communication from the University of New Hampshire. She has over 15 years of experience managing educational programs. She worked for St. Albert Catholic Schools and Creighton University as a career and aca- demic advisor. I am grateful to the CB Community for selecting me to lead the STARS Scholarship Program. The impact STARS has on the scholars, their families and the community is substantial and sustaining. This unique initiative has strong support from the Iowa West Foundation. Pottawattamie County residents are fortunate to have such scholarships available.
