u.s. Marshals Service Office of Security Systems.Weapons & Explosives Screening Program DRAFT Testing of the BrijotMillimeter wave system This Draft copy of this report is an evaluation of the Brijot millimeter wave systems. The tests conducted were done with Inert explosives and inert devices that have the same characteristics as a real device.. The U.S. Marshals Service cannot obligate, the USG financially and that the recommendations are only thatrecommendations. It will fall to Brijot business models as to if they wish to pursue any or all of the "suggestions" that have been provided by the U.S. Marshals Weapons and Explosives Screening Program. 1. The following is a test of the Brijot BIS-WDS GEN 2 millimeter wave screening system. Brijot's GEN 2 technology is composed of a real-time Radiometric Scanner that image electromagnetic millimeter wave energy;' a:n integrated full-motion video' camera, on-board computer, and an intelligent yideo d~tection engine. Security screeners will automatically be alerted and can easily pinpoint concealed objects without intrusive, time-consuming, personnelintensive and potentially dangerous physical searches, while allowing security1screenersand t6 perform "virtual" pat downs from a distance without direct contact., i.:.l. 2 2. The system works by using passive Radiometric Scanner that can detect concealed objects by distinguishing between the millimeter wave energy naturally emitted by the human body and the energy of the concealed objects even when they're hidden beneath clothing. It accomplishes this without radiating subjects, or posing health risks even to those persons with pacemakers, or pregnant women. Deployed as a stand-off application it will not cause claustrophobia and is a safe and discrete screening solution for all. Further, Brijot's millimeter wave sensors do not image anatomical details, thus protecting passenger pnvacy. ;' Af?RI'IAlIDN SD~ARB: mrgi DI~E8m D~IB8IUll!," ',' " ' ", {>w~-4~ t1<'~~~ 6~,<~~ f:r;4ht (~ ~o,#tttt<l<:t *'W:~ ~$:;<,r~-:..n' )]J.4t **"*",,-(~,1W ~H1J.t 1t+W -tift 3. The testing was conducted at the new Orlando Federal Courthouse. Thirteen test items were utilized during the testing to verify if the Brijot system could detect hidden threats on a person. The test items were also tested against the walk thru metal detector as a comparison to the Marshals current screening systems. 4. The main purpose of this test was to identify the inability of Marshals current screening system to identify various' threats.' The second purpose ofthistest\vas to s~ow that millimeter wave screening provides enhanced screening capability and can detect all of the

FINDINGS Negative.

.. "" ~.'...; FINDINGS Positive Overall Assessment 1. The Brijof system is a perfect candidate to enhance the Marshals ability to protect the courts. It bridges the current technology gap that current Marshals screening systems cannot detect. The system is small and can be easily incorporated into establish court entry point without the need of costly modifications. A MM wave portal system would require the entry point to be redone and they are also not aesthetically pleasing, " '" 3. This system also has great potential to be integrated into many other Marshals security system. The Brijot camera system could be tied into the CSO control room video 'monitoring. This would allow the CSO's to not only see what is occurring but also know if the subj ect had something under their clothes. This integration would include video analytical software that alarms a CSO to an event and MM wave camera that allows him to see what is under their clothing. I r ', r. 4: 1. ~ >' I. I '. l '.'

Video analytics would alarm the CSO that something was OCCUlTing so his attention could be focused to thatmonitor. [ «Previous Event) ( Next Event» ".,:~. ~.,.:..

... s' By incorporating MM wave video imaging along with video analytics the CSO would not only be alarmed to an event he/she would be able to see if the person had anything under their clothes.
