Ability Links NSW is a key foundation in the NSW Government s plan to reshape and improve the way people with disability, their families and carers in NSW are supported by placing them at the centre of decision-making. Ability Links forms part of the NSW launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Ability Links Coordinators will work in local communities to assist people with disability, their families and carers to be valued and active members of their community. St Vincent de Paul Society will operate Ability Links in Gosford and Wyong Shire. Abbey from Ability Links will be talking at the Disability Interagency meeting on 14 th August, Central Coast Autism Spectrum Disorder Support Group The Central Coast Autism Spectrum Disorder Support Group are putting on a huge Christmas party with rides, Santa, music, catering at Camp Breakaway on the 1 st December for ALL CHILDREN WITH A DISABILITY on the Central Coast. Please call Tara if you can help out Dress for Success Dress for Success Sydney is a not-for-profit organization that supports economically disadvantaged women. They provide free professional attire and styling to help build self esteem and economic independence. The main goal is to assist women into employment, however women who may have to dress formally for court appearances, visits to a child s school or to any event that requires professional clothing are welcome. 2

Central Coast Community College Central Coast Community College is delivering funded social and recreational courses. These classes offer a regular fun activity for adults with a disability to enjoy, and develop and expand friendships. These courses are available to adults who live in the Gosford or Wyong area with family or friends who provide care for them. Entries are online and close 30 th August, Selected entries will also be published in an Inspirational Journal for youth that will be launched on the 18 th October, as Interrelate celebrates its 40 th birthday on the Central Coast by Celebrating Families. For more information please call Interrelate Special Olympics Newcastle will be hosting the Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games. Athletes will compete between the 2 nd December and 6 th December 2013 concluding on the 7 th December 3

4 with the Closing Celebration, the final gala event to celebrate the achievements of all Special Olympics athletes. The Games will bring together 32 nations from across the Asia Pacific region. Over 2,500 athletes and carers, competing in nine sports Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Cricket, Football, Swimming, Table Tennis and Ten Pin Bowling. The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) provides interest-free loans for individuals or families on low incomes to access credit for the purchase of essential goods and services. As loans are repaid the money is lent out to other members of the community to utilize this service. 5 Central Coast Community Women s Health Centre The Central Coast Community Women s Health Centre will be hosting a DAY OF ACTION AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT This is a day to commemorate both victims and survivors of sexual assault and all those who have worked with and for survivors. Every day women and children are being sexually assaulted. Every day women and children have to survive the fear, the shame and the isolation that sexual assault causes. Sexual assault happens in all countries, cities and neighbourhoods. Survivors and workers for survivors need funding for preventative programs, information for communities, and services. Your support for today and other events that acknowledge that sexual assault happens, as well as remembering victims and survivors, will help.
