2 Hello and welcome to the sponsor information pack for Wiltshire Council s Olympic Legacy Business Dinner an event that will unite the business community and Wiltshire s sporting stars. We ve been working hard to build on the success of last year s celebratory events and to create a legacy for Wiltshire that continues to boost the local economy, encourage people to be more active and bring communities together. Invigorating the economy and supporting local businesses is at the forefront of A Legacy for Wiltshire a project which is reaping real rewards for Wiltshire s communities. The Olympic Legacy Business Dinner will be held in the Atrium at County Hall in Trowbridge on Thursday 13 March 2014 and is an innovative event that will help Wiltshire-based sports people to achieve their dream of representing the county on the biggest of sporting stages. The event will also support participating businesses to market their own services using our exclusive branding pack. We have already delivered successful events which support the local economy including the Wiltshire Business Expo 2013, the Wealth of Wiltshire markets held in the newly refurbished County Hall in Trowbridge and supporting Salisbury City Council s Big Business event. More business events are being scheduled and I look forward to updating you on further opportunities to promote your business and be involved in creating a lasting legacy. I am pleased to announce our host for the evening, former Bath and England Rugby Captain Phil de Glanville. Phil is a highly respected figure in rugby circles and particularly through his work with Sport England has become a well liked and experienced host. I am also delighted to announce Mark Colbourne MBE as one of our guest speakers for the evening. Mark is a gold medal winning cyclist from the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Having seen him speak previously I know how inspirational he is and am I very excited about hearing him again. We are excited to bring this part of our legacy to local businesses. Apart from the benefits you will receive through taking advantage of our branding pack and attending the event itself, it is an excellent opportunity for businesses across Wiltshire to create new relationships with organisations and fellow members of the business community from around the county. I look forward to meeting you on this very special evening. Jane Scott OBE Leader Wiltshire Council

3 Wiltshire Council Funding Future Olympians In 2011 Wiltshire Council launched the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians grant scheme. The aim was to provide financial support to local sports people on their journey towards the London 2012 Olympic Games. Applications are invited by individuals who are competing at a national league level or above in their team sport, competing at nationally recognised events as an individual, or as a member of a national training squad. This can be in either a summer or winter Olympic/Paralympic sport or any other sport that is NGB recognised. The 2012 Olympic Games had a wonderful impact throughout the county and Wiltshire Council is determined that its Legacy for Wiltshire programme builds on these successes in many different areas, and continuing the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians scheme is a significant part of that. With this in mind, the Olympic Legacy Business Dinner will be held from 7pm on Thursday 13 March 2014 in the wonderful venue that is the Atrium in the new County Hall building in Trowbridge. This gala dinner is a fantastic opportunity for Wiltshire businesses to be involved in the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians programme. Should you choose to attend the event, you will meet several local sports people who are part of this scheme and will be able to share with you how the funding they have received through the programme so far has helped them, and how they will use any future funds provided by the scheme. Sponsorship raised from the evening will be added to the Funding Future Olympians and Paraylmpians Fund for 2014 so that moving forward, more local sports people can be accepted onto the scheme and be able to apply for grants from this fund under the same criteria which applies to the scheme at the moment. This can be used for paying for things like travel to and from training camps and specialist equipment and apparel. In 2012, Aaron Moores from Trowbridge received a grant from the fund to support his training for the London 2012 Paralympic games. Aaron is currently the British record holder for S14 classification in the 50m, 100m breaststroke and the 100m backstroke. He was bronze medallist at the British Gas National MC Championships in 2010 in the 100m breaststroke. At the London 2012 Paralympics Aaron won a silver medal in the S14 100m backstroke.

4 Francesca Fox was part of the Team GB squad who competed at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Francesca received a grant from the fund in 2011 to support her training programme. She is a former British Number 1 and 2010 Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist. As part of Team GB Rhythmic Gymnastics squad she has made several high profile TV appearances including BBC s One Show, A Question of Sport, Russell Howard s Good News and Sky s A League of Their Own. She has competed for her country in every major championship. Francesca is now retired but has been a fantastic sporting ambassador for Wiltshire. The sports people who we have already helped through the scheme are extremely grateful for the help this has given them as well as any future funding they may receive as they strive to represent the county in Sochi and Rio in 2014 and 2016 respectively. The fund will be open from 1 January 2014 until 28 February 2014 for applications, with the panel meeting scheduled to take place by mid March, with grants presented at an event early April. This event provides you with the opportunity of becoming a partner of the scheme, and by doing so you will be invited to host a table of 10 people at the gala dinner. This prestigious event provides you with a great corporate hospitality opportunity to bring your best clients to an evening they will remember forever. However, partnership of the scheme is not just about attending the event. It also secures you access to our exclusive branding pack. This allows you to use the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians logos and other materials in any of your future marketing during See the advertising support guide at the back of this information pack for ideas of ways to use the branding to promote the fact that your business is supporting local young athletes in your marketing materials. As a partner of the scheme your business will also have the option of requesting public appearances from those athletes who are successful in their applications for funding through the scheme in 2014 at your key business events. You will also receive recognition in press coverage in the build up to and after the event, as well as future releases relating to the scheme, and on the Wiltshire Council web pages. Further press coverage will also be provided at the Funding Future Olympians presentation evening when the athletes who are accepted onto the scheme for 2014 will be presented with their funding. All partners will be invited to attend the presentation evening which will be followed by a press release detailing the successful applicant and acknowledging the sponsors who are supporting the scheme. Wiltshire Council is also seeking a main event sponsor for the event. All prices and packages are outlined later in this pack, but if you feel that your business would like to support the event in other ways not specified please feel free to get in touch with us using the main contact details in this pack.
