8 Vice President Responsibilities: Supervise all internal affairs and manage officer chairs Hold weekly meetings with chairs outside of Eboard and general meetings Review and compile weekly updates from project teams to create brainstorming discussions for specific topics at the beginning of each general meeting (20 minutes) Plan general meeting activities for all members Allow every member to contribute to project teams

9 Marketing Chair Responsibilities: Increase BEACN awareness through marketing: making flyers, Facebook pages, etc. Managing and updating website Attend and photograph events and meetings Create end of the semester slide show for BEACN banquet Streamline flow of communication internally for events such as tabling sign- ups, creating wejoinins, Google docs, Survey Monkey, etc. Create and disperse weekly newsletters for members Create semester newsletter for alumni network

10 Finance Chair Responsibilities Obtain at least 2 fundraising or sponsorship opportunities to raise at least $20o per semester Approve club expenses Seek applicable grants Collect and record dues on time Create and manage master budget File appropriate documents with ASUC and secure student club funding Prepare Thank You notes and gifts for guest speakers

11 Professional Development Chair Responsibilities Contact guest speakers for general meetings (faculty members, alumni, professionals, non-profit staff, etc.) Plan 1 major alumni event for first half of the semester (alumni networking night, resume run-throughs, interview practices, dress codes, etc.) Plan 1 major corporate event for second half of the semester in partnership with other on-campus organizations Coordinate offsite and onsite consulting training programs

12 Sustainability Chair Responsibilities Organize 2 environmentally-related community service events Ensure every meeting/event is sustainable: composting, ordering food, etc. Get green certification for events through Office of Sustainability Plan 2 Sustainability Training Workshops (with or without speakers) for general meetings Attend ECO meetings (sustainability forum w/other green student groups)

13 Human Resources Chair Responsibilities Organize at least 3 socials for general members Organize chumming assignments amongst members on different project teams Collect and manage potential members contact database Manage and update alumni contact database Take attendance at every meeting/event Organize end of the semester banquet Design, Disperse, and Collect midterm and final evaluations

20 Program Development Project Description Assist a company in developing and implementing nationally-scoped program for recycling and sustainability. (Boise, ID) This may include: Recruitment Campaign Promotion Social Media Networking Conference Calls

22 Branding Project Description: Work with promotional product firm to develop a marketing plan for an environmentally-sustainable product as well as transform the company s online presence. (San Francisco) This is may include: Website design Marketing plan Product promotion Product benchmarking

24 Supply and Outreach Project Description: Work with a vehicle service start-up to increase service awareness and solidify company supply on campus. (Berkeley) This is may include: Campus Networking Strategic Supply Promotion Consumer demand Analysis of target segment

26 Project Team Requirements Project Manager Facilitate communication with the client Organize project goals, timeline, and completion of deadlines Motivate and guide team members! Consolidate and prepare deliverables Members Complete weekly tasks and assignments Participate in weekly team meetings and all BEACN events Communicate with the client Update fellow BEACN members about progress

27 General Meetings BEACN meets every other Wednesday night from 7-8:30 pm at 85 Evans (may change to Haas classrooms) Professional Development Public Speaking, Case Interview Skills, Consulting Workshops, etc. Guest Speakers and Campus Involvement Green Career Fair, Team up with UMA, etc Special Topics and Group Activities Excursions to CA Academy of Science

28 Member Responsibilities Mandatory member orientation (Saturday, February 11) Meet weekly team or committee meetings and deadlines Attend 5 out of 6 meetings, attend socials, participate in chumming, and community service events Present end-of year deliverables (for project team members) Complete and submit in midterm and end-year evaluations Participate in all fundraising events End of semester banquet

30 Interviews People who apply for project manager and/or club chair positions must sign up for an interview time If you want to obtain a chair position, fill out both the general member app and the chair app Check your on the night you send your application in to see if you must sign up for an interview time Current members applying for a position on a project will wait until Monday to receive notice For Officer Chair applicants: Familiarize yourself with chair responsibilities listed on applications (you may be asked for specific ideas)! For Project Manger applicants: Practice Case Interview Questions and communicating your ideas/vision for the projects

31 Note the Changes General Meetings are now 1.5 hrs instead of 2 hrs on Wed not Tues (days not subject to change) More guest speakers during general meetings Major Socials: Bowling Social? Client projects, position responsibilities, and events subject to change depending on changing conditions throughout the semester 2 Warnings: BEACN reserves the right to discontinue membership of anyone at any time for any reason after 2 maximum number of warnings

32 Expect More of External/Internal Professional Workshops Join events with other organizations on campus Chumming (fewer) Community Service Events Project Team Competition: Points given for meeting timelines goals, attending events, winning challenges Points for returning status: Points given for attending all events including fundraising, general meetings, and participation

33 Switch It Up! We advise you to switch up positions/roles in BEACN: Chairs apply for projects and PMs/Project Members apply for chair positions Returning members apply for leadership roles! Position selection based on application, interviews, and last semester s peer evaluation (f0r returning members) Be open minded!
