3 Introduction Photovoltaic (PV) cells suffer from a drop in efficiency with the rise in temperature due to increased resistance. A typical PV panel loses about 0.5% efficiency against every 1 C temperature rise. 3
4 Introduction Such systems can be engineered to carry heat away from the PV cells there by cooling the cells and thus improving their efficiency by lowering resistance. Such loses can be reduced with hybrid collectors which generate both electricity and usable thermal heat at the same time from one panel. PV/T collectors can have either liquid flow or coolants. air flow The first study on water-type PV/T collectors was conducted by Hendrie in 1970 s. The first study on air-type PV/T collectors was conducted by Proffesor Böer (University of Delaware) in
