5 Dropbox Google Drive Evernote (Free) Space 2GB (earn more by referring friends, connecting social media, etc.) 5 GB 60 MB/month Tracks Changes Every save; up to 30 days Every save (includes auto save); forever Every 8 hours; forever Sorting folders folders Stacks; notebooks; tags Collaborative Editing No; file sharing Yes No; notebook sharing Apps ipad/phone/touch; Android; Windows; Mac ipad/phone/touch; Android; Windows; Mac ipad; iphone; Android; Windows; Windows phone; Blackberry; Mac The Verdict: Each program excels at what it tries to do, and each does a specific thing. For pure file storage Dropbox all the way. It is simple and efficient, especially when you are storing mainly word documents and other small files. If you need more space, it is a little pricy. For collaborative projects and on-line work Google Drive. Live editing makes group projects easy and convenient, and the online editor means you can work from anywhere with internet access. For note taking Evernote, obviously. Whether it s taking notes in class, or writing a note to self, the program allows you to record information in whatever format is the most convenient, and keep them organized.
