Bathtub and Tile Care and Maintenance Instructions You should maintain newly refinished bathtub/tiles in much the same manner as new bathtub/tiles. The following instructions will keep he finish clean and attractive for many years. Failure to follow these instructions may void your warranty. 1. DO NOT get the surface wet for 24 hours after refinishing work is completed. 2. CAREFULLY remove any remaining masking tape and paper after hours. 3. Replace bathtub hardware and caulk after hours. It s important to maintain caulking around the tub at all times. 4. REGULAR cleaning is important to prevent dirt and soap scum build-up that will hide the beauty of the finish. Clean with warm water and liquid detergents or bathroom cleaners. Good cleaners are Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, Lysol Tub & Tile Cleaner, Lime Away Bathroom/Kitchen Cleaner, MR. Clean and all purpose liquid dish soap, such as Ivory or Dawn. These will clean the refinished fixture without dulling the finish. DO NOT mop refinished floors. 5. NEVER use suction cup bathmats or any suction cups on the finish. 6. Repair all leaky faucets right away. Constant dripping will cause premature wear and rust around the drain. 7. DO NOT use acids on the finish. If using a drain opener, carefully pour it into the drain, trying not to spill it on the finished surface. 8. To keep your bathtub looking great for years, DO NOT store soap, shampoo, bath oil, etc. on the corner ledge. Water can become trapped underneath and in time, this can cause the finish to discolor. A hanging shower caddy is highly recommended and works well to store these things away from the surface. 9. Liquid car wax works well to protect the finish and makes it easier to clean. Follow the directions on the container. Waxing around the drain will also keep water and rust stains from forming. Apply wax every 3 months or so. NEVER wax the bottom of the bathtub! It makes it slippery and dangerous. 10. NEVER allow nail polish remover to come in contact with the finish as it causes damage to the finish. 11. During the first 2 weeks following the refinishing, the curing process is taking place. During this time you should clean the surface with a soft cloth and water. 1
Conditions, Terms, and Disclosures: The following information is important for you to know and is included on the work order that we will ask you to sign before we proceed with your resurfacing project. What You Can Do Before We Arrive 1. Prior to our arrival, arrangements for access to the property must be made. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that water and electricity are available the day of the project. 2. Leaking faucets must be repaired prior to resurfacing. We can t refinish a surface where leaking water is present. 3. Clean all surfaces that are to be refinished and the surrounding areas, including ceilings and heating or air conditioning registers before our arrival. This will reduce the chances of dust or other contaminants falling into the coating during the drying process. 4. Remove all loose items prior to our arrival. This includes shower curtains and rods, shower doors, mirrors, appliances, tables, pictures, accessories or any rugs. If we remove or move any items at your request or, if we must do so in your absence in order to proceed without loss of time, we will not be responsible for accidental damage. What You Can Do While We Are There 1. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL A CUSTOMER BE ALLOWED TO STAND OVER A TECHNINCAN DURING A RESURFACING PROJECT. We prefer that no one, including pets, be present when we begin the resurfacing process. We know that this is not always possible but we do strongly recommend it. Equipment, noise, and the initial odor make for a very unpleasant area. We ask that if anyone has to be present during the resurfacing process that the person/persons remain as far from the work area as possible during the duration of the project. For safety reasons, technicians are under direct orders not to perform work when the customer enters in and remains in the work area. 2. Refinishing fumes are created during the process so we require that anyone concerned with any sensitivity or possible reactions to harsh solvent like paint odors remain out of the immediate area during and 8-24 hours after the refinishing process. 3. Because of the equipment we have to handle, the technicians need all available room to maneuver in and out of the work area. We ask that if anyone has to be present during the resurfacing process that the person/persons remain as far from the work area as possible during the duration of the project. To be able to provide you with the best job possible, and for safety reasons, please refrain from talking to and questioning the technician during the project. The technicians are highly trained and skilled and need to concentrate on the project at all times. 2
Conditions continued 4. For everyone s safety, technicians are under orders not to work when children and pets are in the proximity of the work area. Arrangements for children and pets should be made prior to our arrival. 5. After the project is complete, you will be allowed to review the completed project and ask any questions. What To Do After We Leave 1. Please try not to disturb the area around the refinished fixture for at least 24 hours. This will help minimize dust getting onto the fixture while it s drying. 2. The customer may be responsible for the removal of the tape and masking paper/plastic. This can be done 24 hours after completion of the project. Please be careful as you remove the tape to avoid damaging existing painted surfaces. Wall and Trim touch-up paint may be necessary. Damage caused by removal of tape and paper/plastic is not the responsibility of Resurfacing Specialists LLC. 3. The customer may be responsible for any re-caulking. Caulk can be re-applied after 24 hours. 4. Become familiar with the proper care and maintenance of your refinished fixture. Taken care of properly, your refinished fixture will last for years. 5. Since we do not work in a dust free environment, we cannot guarantee that some dust will not settle in the new finish. We take every precaution to keep it at a minimum. DO NOT PICK AT ANY SURFACE DUST. During the first 30 days, called the breaking in period, through normal use and cleaning the surface dust will dissipate. 6. If you do any painting and you need to apply tape to the refinished surface, please use BLUE TAPE FOR DELICATE SURFACES only. This tape is sold at Lowes, Home Depot and most Paint Stores. Using any other tape could lead to lifting of the newly refinish coating in which we are not responsible for. Miscellaneous 1. Scheduling & Access: Our business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. If you have schedule changes, they must be received 24 hours prior to your original appointment unless an emergency situation occurs. Failure to do so will leave a technician idle and your deposit may be forfeited. If we are detained by weather, shipping errors, illness, equipment failure, job overruns, or circumstances beyond our control we will notify you as soon as possible for rescheduling. We are not responsible for any losses caused by these delays. Refunds for these conditions will be allowed should the customer decide not to go forward with the project. Prior to our arrival, arrangements for access to the property must be made. Water and electricity are necessary. I have received a copy of the Conditions Form. I have read it and understand it. 3
Disclosures The following information is important for you to know and is included on the work order that we will ask you to sign before we proceed with resurfacing your bathtub or countertop. 1. Removal and reinstallation of plumbing items and shower doors: We do not remove or loosen handles, spouts, drain pieces, and other plumbing hardware unless requested by the owner. These items would require an additional charge. We do remove the over-flow cap to ensure proper adhesion of the coating around that area. We can remove Shower Doors for a fee. We do not fix leaky faucets. We are not licensed plumbers. Should any of these items need to be removed, replaced, or fixed you will need to contact a licensed plumber. 2. Colors and Surface Textures: Our Tub Refinishing product is a 2-Part Acrylic Aliphatic Urethane (MSDS available on request) and our standard color is Tub White. All other colors, including off-whites, require adding pigments. We cannot guarantee an exact match to any existing color or sample. 3. Stone-Fleck Coating is multi-colored and variations in color, texture, and sheen (Satin to Low Gloss) are unavoidable. Samples should only be considered to be an approximation of the final finish. The actual color, texture, and sheen of your new finish will likely vary slightly from color samples on our website or from physical samples that you may have been shown. 4. Existing Surface Conditions: Our Tub Refinishing Coating and our Stone-Fleck Coating are sprayed coatings. Both coatings cure to form a solid surface that will bond and conform to your existing surface. In repairing damage and imperfections, we will try to make these repairs undetectable but some minor flaws may still be visible after the new finish is applied. 5. Protection from Overspray and Dry Dust: To protect areas adjacent to the resurfacing work, we must mask those areas. Masking tape can pull wallpaper or paint away from the wall when removed. You will need to make every effort to be careful when removing masking tape, paper and plastic, however we are not responsible for accidental damage to wallcovering or paint caused by removing masking materials. 6. We will cover the surfaces of floors and furniture near and outside of the masked area in order to prevent a heavy accumulation of dried overspray from floating and settling on furniture or floor. However, some drifting and settling of dust is unavoidable and can be easily wiped clean. 7. Materials and odors: We use powerful exhaust fans to remove resurfacing odors and fumes from the resurfacing area, and in most cases odors are minimal after just a few hours. However, fumes from the refinishing process are toxic and we strongly advise that customers and their pets remain clear of the resurfacing area during the resurfacing process and for several hours after the process is complete. This is essential for anyone who has asthma or any respiratory problems. Most customers choose to be away from the house during the resurfacing process, but if you must be at home while your tub or countertops are refinished, please make arrangements to be comfortable away from the work area. I have received a copy of the Terms, Conditions, and Disclosures Form. I have read it and understand it. 4
Warranty Conditions and Exclusions Resurfacing Specialist LLC warrants its products for bathtubs and showers, ceramic tile, cultured marble and plastic laminate countertops for Three (3) years, One (1) year for commercial or rental property, from date of service against cracking, peeling or failures of adhesion subject to the following conditions and exclusions: 1. Damage caused by constant wetness from leaking plumbing, standing water, or by items such as bath mats left in the bathtub. 2. Damage caused by falling objects, or marks or scratches resulting from accidental or intentional abuse. 3. Damage from chemicals or from the use of abrasive cleansers, scrub pads, chemical drain cleaners, dyes or other harsh chemicals. 4. Damage caused by movement of the floor or wall structure resulting in crakes in the refinished surface. 5. Damage resulting from failure to observe the out of service period: The bathtub coating needs 24 hours to cure before showering for the first time, and 48 hours before its first use for bathing. The countertop coating needs 24 hours to cure before light initial use. 6. Damage from any activity or use that is not normal or intended use of the fixture or surface as recommended by the original manufacturer. 7. Damage from failure to maintain caulking. Caulking must be maintained on an as needed basis and is not warranted. 8. We do not warrant any resurfacing product for use in kitchen sinks. 9. We cannot warrant a dust free finish. Regular cleaning and normal use will minimize surface dust particles within a few weeks. 10. Condition, limitations, or exceptions noted on the reverse side of the signed work order that are at variance with this warranty shall prevail. If you have problems or concerns with your refinished surface during the term of this warranty, please call us as soon as possible so that we can inspect the surface in question. In the event of any failure covered under this warranty, we will at our option, (1) repair the failed area, or (2) resurface the entire fixture, or (3) refund the price of the job to you.
