In addition, students are obliged to pay a fee of EUR 255,00 per semester covering the use of university facilities, public transportation within the Hamburg region and an insurance contribution. 6 Student Accommodation Affordable student accommodation is not easy to find in Hamburg. Therefore, we recommend that you start looking early. Presently, there are 32 halls of residence in Hamburg with rooms in different parts of the city. 18 belong to the state-run Studentenwerk (3.224 rooms). Monthly rent including utilities is between EUR 135,- and EUR 210,- per month. More information about the Halls from the state-run Studentenwerk can be found on the following website: Private Halls Besides the halls of the Studentenwerk there are additional 14 halls with rooms, supported by church or other organisations.
