Comments or submissions can be made to the Chapter Management Professional at shrmjc@shrmjc.org Dear SHRMJC Members, Angie DeDonder Richardson Sometimes you have to take a step back and evaluate what is important in your life and be thankful for what you have and be thankful for those special people in your life. The SHRMJC board and the HR community lost a colleague on October 17 th. Angie always took the time to stop and smell the roses actually it was the Gerber Daisy s that she loved the most. Angie lost her battle with cancer at the young age of 41 years old. She fought this diagnosis and disease with grace, humor, and a spirit that I ve not seen in a long time. She will be extremely missed by her family, friends and coworkers, and of course those of us at SHRMJC. Sometimes you have those special people that come into your life ever so briefly and then float back out. Angie was one of these special people, you did not need to know Angie long to come to love and respect her infectious nature. Angie we will miss you tremendously, may you rest peacefully now that you are free from your pain. 3 Certification Changes that Effect Everyone! Here are a few quick updates and resources related to HR certification changes in HRCI has just completed a rebranding campaign to include: a new logo and website with more tools and information for current and prospective certificates at hrci.org. building and strengthening partnerships with HR experts, thought leaders & consultants. HRCI s winter testing window begins December 1 st and continues through January 31 st. Applications are accepted through the end of today. Late applications to test are accepted through November 14 th (additional $75 fee). Details on the new SHRM certification are available at certification.shrm.org. Based on 9 HR competencies 1 st testing window will begin May 1 st Fees will be $300 for SHRM members, $400 for non-shrm members No exemption requirement related to years of experience in qualifying for test levels hours in a calendar year = 1 year of experience HR Professionals with current PHR, SPHR or GPHR designations will be given the opportunity to earn their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designations for free January 5 December 31 st of next year by completing the following steps: Document than your current certification is in good standing Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics Complete a brief online tutorial focusing on HR competencies (approx.. 1 hour) Anyone who purchased a 2014 SHRM Learning System, sat for the HRCI exam and did not pass can get a 2015 SHRM Learning System (a prep tool now designed for the SHRM certification) for free.
