EurocordEd is a comprehensive training tool for the many different vocational actors involved in the field of umbilcal cord blood. Its educational content is available at a time, place and ultimately in a language convenient to the user. The content on EurocordEd is generated and peerreviewed by international experts in the field of cord blood and so the platform is also a reliable resource of information for the general public and for local,regional, national and European policy decision makers. Eurocord-Ed is an online curriculum in umbilical cord blood technology and clinical applications incorporating scientific, regulatory and ethical issues using a blended learning approach that combines online education and training as well as live events to provide stateof-the art peer reviewed content on all aspects of cord blood technology. The European School of Haematology, (ESH) provides much of the live content for Eurocord-Ed, which includes an annual World Cord Blood Congress. It contributes to the spread of best practice in European centres through dissemination of information on quality standards, quality control and accreditation procedures such as those developed by NETCORD and JACIE, the two major global accreditation bodies in the field the collection, processing, testing, banking, selection and release of blood products promoting high quality patient care and laboratory performance. The website will assist operators within European Tissue establishments to better understand the meaning of the Tissue and Cells Directives and ensure that their operations at all levels: procurement, processing, preservation, testing, storage and distribution of Tissue and Cells is carried out in compliance with the Directives throughout the community. It contains pertinent up-to-date information relevent to all actors in the field of UCB including technicians, practicioners, mid wives, and health care decision makers. Description: The Eurocord Ed website is divided into several sections and subsections to allow users to easily locate information related to their specific interest in UCB. These sections include webcasts of training seminars and conferences in UCB, ressources on clinical applications, R&D, donation, procurement, processing and preservation, storage and distribution, good lab practice, regulation and quality control. The wesite also contains links to live educational events, cord blood banks, partner organisations news, as well as an expert forum.
