2 The CKGSB China Immersion Program is designed for high potential MBA/EMBA students from leading business schools around the world. The program is customizable and typically one to two weeks in duration. It helps the participants gain a deeper understanding of the fast-changing Chinese economy. The program is designed to offer the participants: Business opportunities from the world's second-largest and fastest-growing economy Awareness of the challenges faced by foreign companies entering the Chinese market Strategies for selecting local partners and insights on how to overcome cultural differences Integration of China s procurement and manufacturing base into existing supply chains Key success and failure factors in doing business in China Understanding Chinese consumer behavior The program consists of China-oriented classes and company visits that will provide a close-up view of China s business landscape as well as networking and learning opportunities with peer Chinese executives. The program also includes panel discussions, guest speakers, and cultural visits. The program enables participants to see the developments of business in China from a global perspective. The students will leave the program understanding the implications of China s explosive growth and globalization. Additionally, participants will have the knowledge needed to confidently navigate the intricacies of the country s policies and economy and to formulate their own company's strategy for success in the Chinese market.

4 COMPANY VISITS We arrange visits to industry-leading companies that will provide close-up views of China s business landscape. 5 ALUMNI NETWORKING EVENTS CKGSB s alumni group is recognized as the most exclusive in China. You will be introduced to, and immersed within, a network of some of China s most successful private entrepreneurs, leaders of China s largest state-owned enterprises, and top regional executives at multinational corporations. More than half of CKGSB s alumni are at the CEO or Chairman level and, collectively, are leaders at one-fifth of China s most valuable brands and shape more than $1 trillion in annual revenue. CITIES AND DESTINATIONS China has over 140 cities with a population greater than 750,000. The United States and Western Europe combined have just over a hundred similarly-sized cities. It is this complexity, scale and dynamism that make the China story so compelling. Visiting cities other than Beijing and Shanghai is crucial for business leaders looking to truly understand the Chinese business landscape. Towards that end, CKGSB will also take participants to growing second- and third-tier cities to get a more complete picture of the Chinese economy. 6 Beijing Shanghai Hangzhou Shenzhen Beijing is a 3,000-year-old city that has been the capital of China for most of the past 600 years. In recent decades, it has gained international importance as a political and economic hub, while retaining a rich historical and contemporary cultural heritage. CKGSB s main campus is also in Beijing. Examples of experiential immersions in Beijing: Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square Hutongs (alleyways): the Real Culture of Beijing Great Wall Shanghai is the commercial and financial center of China. It launched the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free-Trade Zone (FTZ), the first FTZ in China, in September The FTZ introduced a number of pilot reforms designed to create a preferential environment for foreign investment, helping Shanghai continue to attract multinationals to set up their HQs in the city. Examples of experiential immersions in Shanghai: Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall Yuyuan Garden & Nanjing Road Xintiandi: yesterday meets tomorrow in Shanghai today Hangzhou is considered a Paradise on Earth and one of the most beautiful cities in China. You can immerse yourselves in Chinese culture by enjoying a cup of green tea in a quiet teahouse beside West Lake, and then visit Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba to get a better understanding of how it has developed from Hangzhou to Wall Street. Examples of experiential immersions in Hangzhou: West Lake: one of China s top 10 attractions, and a favorite with many ancient Chinese poets China Tea Museum: the only tea museum in China explains tea s history, and displays various kinds of tea, tea sets and tea-drinking customs Shenzhen has been the fastest-growing Chinese city over the past three decades, raising its population to 13 million from just 300,000. Shenzhen is both China s manufacturing hub and design capital, and is a young, vibrant city: the average age of its inhabitants is around 30. In 2014, Shenzhen became a national innovation zone, the only such zone created on a city-wide scale. Examples of experiential immersions in Shenzhen: Splendid China Folk Culture Village: a comprehensive miniature park reflecting the history, culture, art, architecture and customs of various Ethnicities in China. CKGSB has campuses in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
